Upgrading

I currently have a blackberry curve, and as of tonight my new every 2 comes online and until the end of the day I have an additional 50 dollars off any smartphone at checkout.
I want to wait out until the Droid X for obvious reason but the charger connection in the phone has come loose and it may or may not hold out for 16 days until I can get the droid x.

I was wondering if I could get a regular Droid now, return it on the 15th and grab the droid X without a hassle? Also wondering how my NE2 and the discount for smartphones through the end of today would affect the ability to return/final cost of the Droid X.
Not sure if theres anything special since its a release day and I'd be returning for it or not.

The ONLY charge you should have is the $35 restocking fee. I did the same thing you did with the Incredible (I was using a Palm Pre Plus temporarily) and was only charged the $35. Every discount and such will go to the Droid X.

Thank you! I think I'll do that, at least it gives me a few days if its hard to get ahold of a Droid X. I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't be wasting my NE2.

Oh no problem. Verizon's only concern is that you stick a phone you want.

Another question, will I be able to upgrade to 2.2 and get a custom loader and everything, but still be able to return it in that condition or will I have to fully reset before I take it in?

Well the upgrade to 2.2 is coming in late August, which will be outside of your 30 day window. Basically, the only thing that you can't do is root it. That would void warranty.

Mkay, I'll suffer through an unmodified device for awhile. Thanks for all the help, just placed my order. 107 dollars (Missed the window for the extra 50 off). Thursday, I will have my first Android device.
