Help Using a bluetooth adapter (transmitter) with Android?

My phone has Android 6.0, and I just got some bluetooth headphones for Christmas. When I try to listen to muic, it won't stay paired for more than a minute. It seems to constantly disconnect and reconnect. I know the problem isn't the headphones, because it works fine with my tablet. I looked it up and found out that marsmallow seems to have bluetooth issues. Would using a bluetooth adaptor that transmits, and plugs into the audio jack, work to solve this issue?
