Hold on folks, busy weekend here but lemme check real quick...
EDIT: KNOX COUNTER 0x0
I loved trying roms on my tbolt.. In fact i still use it as a wifi device and it flies with a gingerbread aosp rom. With stock ice cream sandwich rom the phone is unusable. Slow beyond all belief. THAT was a device that needed an unlocked bootloader. I never bothered unlocking my maxx hd because it worked fine and I couldn't think of a feature that it lacked that was worth the trouble. Now I'm not familiar with Note 2 roms so maybe some make it worth it but my Note 3 is fine. I really can't think of a feature it lacks and it doesn't lag. I actually like some of the stupid Sammy features like cloning my tv picture so I can run around the house and never miss a play. S pen is growing on me though I never that I'd use it. I'm not used to the size yet but it is fantastic watching tv or movies. What would rooting and romming give me that I don't have (other than the sheer fun of it).
Hi Steven!
Recall that the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon came out with a hopelessly locked bootloader. It wasn't long before the bootloader was cracked and we unlocked and rooted that sucker.
The Note 3 was out a mere THREE DAYS and got root. There is no doubt in my mind that the bootloader will be opened on it. HOWEVER:
The Knox counter will be a one-way ticket, IMO. It can't be reset except by Samsung; so once you install a custom ROM (when that happens, not if) it will overwrite the Knox folder and trip the counter. I'm not a developer, but I see no way around that: if you decide to ROM this phone, I hope you never need warranty work on it.
As a matter of curiosity, I have to ask: what is it about the Note 3's functionality do you NOT like? I mean, the S-pen functions well... I'm just wondering what it is about it that would make you prefer more of the same stuff we've done for so long with the Galaxy Nexus
Now if a ROM were developed that kept the S-pen functionality and opened up all the options that a ROM like, say, Sourcery had in it... then I see your position right away. But right now Gina (that's my Note 3's name) is working just about the way I want her to...
I didn't like losing unlimted for one.

Will do. I am just wanting to pretty much set it up like it was. But if anyone can find the trick to getting that stupid drip sound off the dialpad, let me know!
When you're in the dial pad screen, hit the menu button. Under there should be an option for key pad tones. Uncheck it.
I plan on getting the Note 3 in November and one of the big reasons I want to root it is to hopefully get the email/gmail etc inverted. It is so much easier on my poor old eyes! Of course it might not be as much of an issue on the larger screen as it is on my GNex. I see fine on my laptop without that. Hmmm.
I did that, I was just hoping to find those reassuring old touch tones like a regular phone has instead of either drip drip drip or silence... I know, I'm so demanding
Well, how will rooting do that for you, Koki? Inverted Gapps would have to be flashed in recovery: there is no custom recovery (yet). I would love some inverted love as well, trust me: but the last thing I want to do is trip that counter. Why, I have no idea... I don't use Knox, heck, I can't even FIND Knox but if I could I wouldn't use it. Too volatile. I guess I just don't like that whole "one way" scenario where you can never go completely back to stock if needed.

de la Vega only works on MI9, not MJ7. MJ7, you need to use Kingo Root. If your pc doesn't allow you to do it then switch pc's. My Laptop said "FAILED" but when I switched to my Desktop it worked fine.
Question for all of us rooted Note III ers.. What about 4.4...are you comfortable with root now, and waiting to see what happens when 4.4 is out?
I am sure the Devs are working hard on the bootloader, but...
