Yeah no doubt. Conspiracey theory? Hardly. It is their phone after all dude. If you had built that thing from recycled aluminum cans and old Texas Instrument calculators and when you went to plug it in that appeared, then you might have reason to raise an eye brow. But come on, that's a Motorola phone operating on the Verizon network... having an add pop up when you connect it to your computer has zero in common with say big brother parking a spy satelite directly over your house while video taping you masturbating. It's a meaningless add that is easy to turn off. Get over it.
Also, I too have not connected to my computer in ages ever since rooting and connecting to the computer via 'Wireless Tether'. For one, as mentioned above, charging that way takes forever, and it super heats the battery for some reason (mine anyway). With 'Wireless Tether' I plug it into the wall, connect my computer to the internet through my phone wirelessly, it never gets hot, and it stays at 100% charge at all times.
Oh, and the best thing of all.... I don't have those creepy Verizon adds pop up on me!!!
