Vibrate, ringtone question

Sorry if this has been asked.

Is there a way to disable the vibrate function for incoming emails etc. when the ringer is set to be on ?

What I mean is that it appears that you can only set the vibrate for SMS to be either on or off. So that when the phone is set to vibrate, if the vibe function for incoming SMS is off, it will not vibrate, and conversely if the vibrate for SMS is on, when the ringer volume is turned up it still vibrates.


I hope there is a solution for this as it is quite annoying.

Yes, depending on the application. For example, in Handcent SMS, there is an option under Settings > Notification Settings > Vibrate Settings to "Only vibrate when the device is set to Vibrate mode".

It is basically the same for the native app--settings, then check "Received notification" which will allow you to select your sound and whether or not you want vibrate.
