It depends what software version you have... if its 3.29 unrevoked will work. It its 3.30 i don't believe unrevoked will work with that software version yet.
To check: menu>settings>about phone>software information
And superuser is an app you get once you are rooted. It allows you do use apps that require super user permissions.
Unrevoked is pretty damn simple. Really, all of the legwork is the preparation and loading the drivers and such. Once you are ready to actually root, it is pretty damn simple...

Do I need to save anything from my stock phone before I root? Just in case i need to bring it to Sprint for any reason. Do I save after I root? More like a "backup" I suppose.
Thanks in advance

Yes, you should because if Sprint finds out you "rooted" your phone, it will void your warranty. In other words, if you have to ever bring in your phone, you'll want it to look as stock as possible.
Most of that is all explained in all of the guides and tutorials.
And also do a search. Most of your questions have been asked before.
If you do encounter any issues or have any questions AFTER trying to search for the topic, post up. But a word of advice - rooting your phone based on the methods advised by the various developers is a fairly involved task that if you're not willing to do the research and reading, you shouldn't be messing with your phone. It's highly advisable that you read up on it before moving forward.

And backing your phone up prior to rooting has NOTHING to do with "sprint fining out you are rooted". Thats what un rooting is for.
When rooting with unrevoked you don't lose any data what so ever. AFTER you root is when you want to back stuff up such as doing a nadroid back-up. Read up on the tread Rooting for Dummies and you will be good to go. If you are lost or need help, just shout!
