Yet Another Question About Keeping Unlimited Data

not true based off what is said in this thread alone if i upgrade under a different line and then swap it to my line then it treats it like if i bought the phone for full retail just need to know how to do it the right way to cause no problems

Yes, I'm just referring to the upgrade from your line. You can transfer an upgrade from another line without losing unlimited on your line, yes. I must have misunderstood, as I thought you were talking about using your upgrade from your line, transferring it to your dad's line, using the upgrade to buy the DNA on his line, then transferring the phone back to your line.

i just need clarification on my questions about the sim cards cause its all new to me and dont want to have to wind up in verizon store so my options are

transfer my upgrade to his line take his sim from his s3 put in the dna activate then switch over to me with the sim card that comes with the dna

or i could transfer the upgrade to my moms line which shes on a 3g phone but then i would need an extra sim if i did this could i just get an extra sim from anywhere

just want to know if either of these scenarios would work

alternatively to what i asked above with using my dads phone can i just buy a 2nd sim card on ebay so i dont have to deal with a verizon store

sorry for posting so much just trying to figure out how i can do this..would hate to order the phone lose unlimited when there was a way i didnt have to

Not sure if it will work. Don't you still need to go to the store/call Verizon to activate that Sim Card? How are you going to "transfer" that Sim Card to you? It's not like Verizon has online activation for your Sim Card. You probably still need to go to the store to get your own individual Sim Card.

Why can't you go to the store? They're everywhere. Plus, they give Sim Cards out for free. You need a Sim Card for yourself. If you don't have one, you still have to call Verizon or go to the store to get one activated right away for you.

calling shouldnt be an issue though i would think since isnt it automated?

Is it? I have never heard that Sim Card activation is automated. Every Sim Card has a different id number.

Plus, since what you're doing is complicated, you're going to need to talk to Verizon Wireless or go to a store to sort all of this out.

You're taking Sim Cards out and you don't have one of your own. You need to go to a store or talk to a Verizon rep to get this sorted out. Only they can give you a solid answer.

You will lose unlimited if you do this. Also any Sim card that comes with the phone will be programmed to work on your dad's line, you will need yet another Sim card for your line, which you will need to get separately from a VZW store.

You still need an activated Sim Card of your own to do this. You will still have to talk to Verizon rep or a store that can do this for you. I think you can't activate a Sim Card of your own through the automated system. You need the store specialist or phone specialist who can do this.

There's a chance where they won't let this happen. It depends on the store or Verizon rep. You also need the reps to actually program the Sim card for you and change the unlimited data plan to the unlimited 4G data plan.

I'll share my experience on the subject of keeping unlimited data plan.

I have a family plan which has 2 smart phones and 1 dumbphone which is just $10 line. both smartphones are on a unlimited plan and i have 2 upgrades available, 1 from my thunderbolt and the other is on the dumbphone.

I went into a VZW store to check out the DNA, asked them to upgrade my thunderbolt but to not change my unlimited plan, long story short he said it wasn't going to happen and that id have to give up my unlimited plan and that NO vzw store would do this for me so i decided to do this myself online.

I used the upgrade from the dumbphone to buy the DNA for $199 (online) then when i got the phone i called into VZW to activate the phone. I asked the guy to activate my DNA on my one of my unlimited plans and to leave my dumbphone line as is and he did it without any fuss.
so when the whole process was over which only took like 10 mins on the phone i got the DNA for the 2yr contract price and kept my unlimited data plan. I also went back into my account to double check to make sure i wasnt playing for 3 data plans since the process seemed to easy and sure enough my family plan has not changed one bit, very pleased.
btw i still have my upgrade on my line which use to be the thunderbolt but is now the DNA.
