I've had my Droid for over six months with no screen protector. I treat it like I treat an expensive camera or laptop, or whatever. I keep it clean, never in my pocket smacking against anything, and I wash my hands when necessary before using it.
I don't have a scratch on it. Simple common sense when handling the Droid should keep the screen scratch free.
You can't prevent all accidents. There are definitely those who have taken care of their Droid yet scratched their screens. It's not mutually exclusive despite what you may believe.
Did you just want to argue, or what?
All I said was, "Simple common sense when handling the Droid should keep the screen scratch free." I wasn't talking about accidents at all.
Human flesh, and probably even the enamel on my teeth isn't going to scratch the Droid's screen. Minute particles of debris trapped in between the grooves of my finger prints will. So you keep your hands clean, that's all. Dropping the phone into your pocket will expose it to whatever debris is trapped inside there from five summers ago when you wore them at the beach. (
Do we really need to go into the type of fabric, debris and how tight the pants are?) That's not an accident, that's just stupid (...IE, a lack of COMMON SENSE).
How do you clean a lens on a camera? They're usually coated with metallic oxides that block UV rays and keep glare down. Those oxides are very hard, often harder than the glass. But don't you still use a micro fiber cloth to clean it?
-Or do you just spit on it and rub it real hard with the tee-shirt you've been wearing all day while riding your quad in the desert?
Common sense is all it really takes. If common sense to you means you need screen protection against you or your environment, than that's part of it. If you're an auto mechanic and have filthy, greasy, sandy, dusty hands all day, then you're a moron if you don't hear that little common sense voice in yer head telling you to put a screen protector on your Droid. (
-Then again, common sense should have told you a Droid was a bad choice for you.)
BTW, I do a lot of activities that cause me to have dirty hands, including work. Being careful with my phone,
and exercising a little common sense, has kept the screen free of scratches.
