Battery Life!!! Grrrrr

Go to Menu>settings>about phone>battery>battery use. This will give you a clue as to what is draining the battery.

Also download "Spare Parts" from the Market. It free and it will show which apps are not sleeping properly.

Also check to see that Google Talk has been inactivated. A portion of it will run in the background. That is OK. The big battery drain is the actual Talk service.

the thing is, how long was it plugged in at 100%? the battery life starts draining when the phone hits 100% even when on the charger, so when you take it off the charger the battery life will drain to what it is actually at.

if you take it off the charger right when it hits 100%, then i guarantee it will not be down to 73% in 30 minutes.

go back to the place where you bought it from and exchange the battery. This has happened to me before not with the evo.

It's only been unplugged for 30 minutes and im already down to 73 percent. I mean EVERYTHING off. Gps,WiFi,Bg Sync,No live wallpaper, dark background,No IM Apps, not to many apps, not to many widgets... What The Hell is The Problem? Any tips or tricks other than the things ive mentioned?

I've noticed that when the phone is unplugged, it seems to drain very fast for the first hour. Then, when it gets into the 70 % and under it seems to take longer to drain. I have been monitoring this since the update and I have to say that my battery life has improved, even to the point where I put the auto and background sync on. For the past few days, I have been getting 11-12 hours per charge, which is good enough for me

You have a defective battery, go swap it out. Or better yet, buy a bigger one. I have the 1800mah by Mugen. I have been unplugged for 9hrs and 43min, battery is at 81% still. Havent been using it heavily but still, 30 min at 73% is a bad battery, even on the stock one if you really have everything off.

I never knew this. It would be nice if the phone would start the recharge process at a certain level if still plugged in.

I was having huge issues with battery life too - I read a thread on here that addressed it and had the perfect fix! All I have done is add a widget to my homescreen for mobile networks - turn them off when you're not using them! You can still make/receive calls and send/receive text messages. My battery went from about 7 hours to over 2 days between charges!! Seriously amazing!! I did also turn off the Google Talk that was referenced above - fyi.

Yea, I call it topping off the battery haha. When your light goes green, unplug your phone and then plug it back in a few minutes later. It will then charge an additional 5-15 minutes and go green again. Do this on your next charging cycle each time you shut the phone off!
