Best Droid Headphones?

I checked out some old threads about this, but didn't find what I was looking for. I'm looking for the best pair of headphones (blue-tooth preferably) to use while running w/ my Droid or just at the gym with it.. I like to run w/ my phone, and have no problem with it in my pocket.

I sweat like a freakin' gorilla running here in FL in the summertime, so I need something that can tolerate some sweat. Any suggestions??

I use the Sony MDR-EX36V/BLK for the gym. They aren't the loudest earbuds but they have great sound reproduction and decent bass for pretty cheap. I sweat a lot too, and they stay in my ear and haven't shorted or anything haha.

I don't use bluetooth headphones the cost to quality ratio isn't to my liking.

For everything else I use the Sony MDR-V6. It's best $70 I ever spent. Hell it's better then some $200 headphones. Won't give you the super bass of Dre Beats but doesn't skimp on build quality like Beats do.

Just don't buy SkullCandy. They're fake sounding, cheapy quality, overpriced pieces of turd.

i only use stereo BT headsets while at the gym. i originally had Plantronics ones (i think 855 or something; they're not made anymore) and those disintegrated under sweat.

now i use Lubix NC1s. they aren't the best sound quality, but that doesn't matter while running and they're certainly not bad. they stay in my ear and have so far held up well to sweat, but northern california is nothing like florida. i also like they way they clasp together around your neck if you want to talk to someone at the gym. i have to admit i got them from woot for $25, and they are certainly worth it at that price. this place has them on sale right now:

Why does music pause/stop whenever i get an alert?
The only functionality i miss from my iphone 4 was
the ipod touch.

I get a text or email, the phone vibrates yet it always
messes with my music

I have Motorola S9 (earbub wrap behinds). they are bluetooth & can handle dampness. they work fine for me.
I also have Jabra Halo (over the head & over the ears). These are both BT & wired, but I would not use them to work out with.

Mine only pauses long enough to play the notification and then continues (but I am using 3 instead of the stock music app).

You could, of course, disable notifications or activate airplane mode if you really want your music uninterrupted.

I agree on the Motorola S9 headset. I use mine for running, biking or just going to the gym. I also live in Florida and have not had any issues with sweat on the earbuds. I have had issues with the sound cutting out, but I'm not sure if that's because of the app or the headset. There are controls on the headset for volume, play/pause, skip track, and also a control to take phone calls.

I have the S9Hd's and they work great at the gym. The one thing to consider is that the buttons might stop working eventually do to sweat. I got about a year and a half with phones before they finally died and I had to get a new pair. I do use them six days a week at the gym so they got plenty of use and sweat.

I second this. Motorola S9-HD are by far the best bluetooth headset I owned. Great battery life and Sound. I use them when going to the gym or running outside. Volume and call controls are on the side - perfect! :]

PS: Try to go on ebay and buy them. They are a lot cheaper there than Amazon or best buy. I got mine for $25 bucks..

did you decide on anything? you inspired me to look around a bit and Sony Ericsson has a bunch of BT earbuds, but of course they're all fairly expensive.

I know it's not BT, which you were looking for, but I've had these Sennheiser headphones for like 2 years and wear them to the gym at least 3x a week. They work great, I've never had a problem with sweat and are pretty cheap.

Mine also aren't Bluetooth. I use V-Moda Vibes. I have the old ones though, the new revision they made is, for some reason, muddy and disgusting. It's sad too, considering the new one has a nice Kevlar cable as opposed to the regular silicone one. Mine has holes that I've patched up with heat-shrink tubing.

Whatever you choose, I would recommend going with a good brand though, like Sennheiser or Ultimate-Ears. Not Skullcandy, Monster, or Bose for sure. Bose isn't bad, just very overpriced, but the latter two are pretty much trendy crap. Unfortunately, you'll be hard-pressed to find good-sounding Bluetooth headphones; audiophiles tend to like wires.

I find that when the sound cuts out, I do the following:
1. reposition the phone
2. put it closer or more line of sight to the headset ( I know BT does not use line-of-sight like IR, but it helps).
3. recharge the headset.

I find that the sound typically cuts out when I just leave down the driveway at my house for a run or on a bike. I thought it may be because of the phone switching from the wifi at my house to 3G because I'm using music apps (Pandora, Slacker, SiriusXM) that need internet connection .

I did not even know that I could get the music to transfer to a bluetooth headset-and maybe other audio like navigation?? I had a real cheapo bluetooth headset i bought once and all it passed was phone audio. Now I have 2 motorcycle helmets fitted with a Scala Rider bluetooth intercom/phone/fm tuner/and plug in fitting for mp3 and such. The Navigation voice and music files or Pandora audio ALL just come out of the Droid speaker (unless I plug in a headset into the Droid) SO, I always assumed that the Droid could only transmit phone audio through bluetooth devices. Since I still cant get the navigator or audio to transmit to my helmet through bluetooth is there a setting somewhere that specifically turns this capability on/off somewhere-or am I out of luck? I can run an audio connection into the Scalarider but I would rather do that through bluetooth if I could. Thanks!!

Sorry for chiming in late, but I am using the Rocketfish BT headset and think it works great. Picked them up at BB for $60 and have been using them since for running as well as around the house/office. I also bought the Moto S9-HD that others have mentioned ($60 on Amazon) but was not as impressed with the sound. I was expecting them to be better but the maximum volume seemed much lower than the RF headset, and the quality didn't seem any more high def. Neither would probably cut it for a true audiophile, but for me the RF brand is a keeper.

As for sweat, I thought the in-ear BT headset worked fine, and I sweat pretty good when running on outdoor trails. I will typically wipe down the rubber pads with an alcohol swab now and then to keep them from getting too gunked up, and that seems to work just fine for me. To be honest, I've never found ANY headset that was 100% sweat proof, BT or otherwise.

EDIT: Both are on the small side for my admittedly large noggin. They aren't adjustable. They fit fine when you're facing forward but pull on your ears if you try to rotate your head too far up or left-to-right. Since this was a problem with both brands, I overlooked it in my decision making.

I think the BT headset has to support A2DP technology. From what little research I've done, I'm thinking older BT hardware may not support this option which is why some headsets only offer phone (mono) audio. You may want to check Google to confirm my limited research.

I think there are different types of MOTOROKR S9 headsets. I was interested in the set shown in your link, but then also read the reviews on the issues with sweat on the earbuds. Then I found a different set that apparently is designed more for active use. It is also black but is red on the inside.

Not so sure these are different. Quick look at the reviews has a few people saying they use them at the gym and a few more saying sweat kills them and don't use these if you sweat. Didn't read all 131 reviews yet, but seems like a mixed bag. Really want to use them when I work out..
