well on droid-life they have a rumor that 2.2 will come to us droid users on the 13th...You can wait till then, or you can root. No Froyo will not automatically put you at 1.0ghz. Most froyo ROMs here come at either 600mhz or 800mhz stock, at least all the ones that I have tried. I got lucky on my rooting adventure. I had a messed up droid, after my 30 day return period, and they sent me a "like-new" refurb. It had 2.0 on it still so I didn't have to do the RSDLite method of rooting! I would help you if you like, but I don't have experience with RSDLite. But honestly, if you read everything here, over and over (at least do 2 read-through's) and you should be good. I thought it would be bad and scary, but it was fast and simple. Once you root, you won't wanna go back (unless you have to for warranty purposes)

Hope this helped, somewhat. If you have any questions when/if you DO decide to root you can PM me if you'd like or ask away on this thread and you should get a pretty straight forward answer.

Good luck man.

(Bugless Beast v0.3 android 2.2 stock by Google
Clockwork Mod Recovery ) IS THIS WHAT YOU HAVE? or perhaps the latest froyo is better than above mentioned? I get the updateds via this website APP and there is a latest one out there.

exactly(time) forgive me for asking...you mentioned process power-what would that indicate "swiftness" or moving around w/in your phone? and w 2.2 does it increase to 1ghz??

It's cool lol, I'm always up late. It makes pretty much EVERYTHING faster! Scrolling though menus (in and out of Android system) faster, makes opening apps (sometimes) faster..."Swiftness" factor is noticeable too. I've ran my phone from everyone between 600mhz-1.2ghz and pretty much anywhere in between those, 1.0 is my favorite (phone stays cool and is still blazing fast), you will notice that just switching from left to right on your home screen is less laggy.

And NO, just going to 2.2 will NOT automatically increase your CPU speed to 1ghz. You will have to install a kernel. All froyo kernels can be found HERE. I personally use Chevy's ULV (ultra-low voltage) 1.0ghz kernel. But it varies from phone to phone what YOUR phone can handle.

Well your phone, since you're not rooted, is at stock 550mhz. If you root you can download a kernel like I showed you and then download SetCPU in the market (cost around 2 bucks, but it's worth it) and you can set it from anywhere between 550mhz to 1.0ghz (given that you download a 1.0ghz kernel). I dunno what you're talking about after the kernel question lol... you don't make much sense, but from what I understand you're saying: You want to root your MotoDroid and not upgrade to another phone because you think that custom ROMs will be better than what is stock on the dX and the dINC...which is true for the dINC, but I'm not sure about the dX but I'm assuming you'll still be pleased with the mDroid ROOTED instead of the dX.

YES-wow impressed...(i guess thats why so many people LOVE the droid platform you can customize w/o upgrading w the very comp you bought from(make sense)

Yep, well good luck if you root tonight (morning, whatever). Let us know how it goes and if you need help, ask away.

thnx again man

You're very welcome

Yeah man you can PM me, but I'll need to look up on the RSD method since you're on 2.1...shouldn't be too hard. If you have MSN messenger, you can PM that and we can IM and it will be a lot faster lol and less back and forthness on a forum.

But honestly if you go here: http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/04/how-to-root-the-motorola-droid-android-2-1/ and follow those instructions...you should be on your way to root within about 10 minutes. I will still follow you through it though if you want...just PM me.
