Hi, I'm new to the forums. My name is Margo and I've had my Motorola Droid since the week after it came out, and then it was replaced about a week later. I don't really want to have to hard reset my phone because I'm worried that I won't be able to back-up correctly and i'll lose all of my apps, but if thats what it comes down to I guess I'll have to. I recently got a Mac and I made an iMovie for a camp project. I didn't have an SD card, so I stored the .3gp and the .mp4 file formats of the video on my phone. This is when it all started. I had about 1500 pictures and/or videos on my phone and alot of them started deleting randomly and thumbnails for videos switched around (like a thumbnail for a video I just took would be on a video back in the archives of when I first got my phone, but it would play as the older video). This freaked me out, so I took out my SD card and called tech support. They told me to take out my SD card, put it into my computer, take everything off the SD card and put it onto my computer, delete the iMovies I had put on it, put the rest back on the SD card, and put the SD card back in my phone and it should work. It didn't work, everything was still mixed up and those deleted pictures and videos were lost forever. Thinking it was a problem with the SD card, I bought a new one and decided to start anew, but as soon as I got about 10 pictures/videos on the SD card, things are still mixing up (videos I took yesterday in front of pictures I took today). Please help! I'm really worried about losing more of my media, but I don't want to hard reset if there's a possibility of fixing the problem without that last resort. Thanks! Margo.

It sounds like your problem might be in the OS. I am not an expert on the inner workings of linux so I can't give you specific recommendations. You pictures being saved on the SD card shouldn't have any effect on your OS unless your running something that is accessing them. It may be that the program that created the movie changed something or corrupted something in your OS (that is the best I can offer).

If you have to do a hard reset it is not so bad. I know you would prefer not to do it, but if you have to then you can restore all of your apps through the market (it is linked in your account) It will not wipe you stored SD card files. I had to do one after my daughter unknowingly downloaded a number of apps one of which screwed up my wifi connection and the brightness settings.

If you do a hard reset you need to go into the market hit the menu button and go to downloads. Start downloading each of your apps again.

**IMPORTANT** Download all of your previous apps before going anywhere else in the market or downloading anything else (it will wipe your downloaded apps history). Once you re-download all of your apps you will be back in business. Hope this helps some.
