Missing Power Bar Widget?

Upvote 0
Have you updated your phone to 2.1 recently? Did you factory reset as part of the update if you did update recently (or not so recently)? Just wanted to ask, because I've read about items missing after the update. Another thing, have you considered SwitchPro? Pretty neat power set:

SwitchPro Widget v1.8 Application for Android | Tools
I just got this thing less than a week ago and I'm learning it. Haven't upgraded anything, don't know how. How do I know what version I'm running? Firmware version is 1.5.....is that it? I'll check out the SwitchPro. I DO remember seeing my power control bar at some point recently.

Thanks for your help thus far, by the way. It's very much appreciated.

Yup, you're still on 1.5. The latest official version for Eris is 2.1, but you'll probably have a decision to make on whether to update, or you just happen to be in a position to have root access on your phone.

It's been a while since I had 1.5, there shouldn't be any reason why that power control should be missing though. I don't recall 100% where it's listed. Hopefully Frisco will read this thread; he was the King of 1.5 for quite a while.

LOL, I have no idea what you mean here. I DO have a few weeks to swap to a different phone if need be. Should I?

the power widget wasn't included in 1.5
you'll have to get 2.1 to get it. and if you OTA you will still have root access, if you so chose! Welcome to android and welcome to the forums!
Thanks for the welcome.
OTH? Root access? Did I buy the wrong phone?

Nah, of course not. The phone can be as simple or complex/flexible as you like. Some like to have root access in order to have the ability to more control over your phone. It's not necessary, but has its advantages. If you're not interested don't bother, if you are you may want to read a little on it before taking the leap. And yes, welcome to the forums. Sorry about that.

LOL the OTA is what verizon pushed out to update the Eris from 1.5 to 2.1. I think a few people who have purchased the phone recently are finding that they are still on 1.5 and I don't think verizon is pushing out the update anymore. You might need to take it back to the store and have them flash the update for you if they can. otherwise you may want to contact tech support or htc about a site you can download it from manually. Its not a sign of a bad phone, they push these updates out all the time. It just means the platform is advancing! :D Good Luck with your Eris, I'm off to go X hunting!

Agreed. If you're really not interested in root for your phone, you may want to see if Verizon can flash your firmware up to 2.1. There are many features on 2.1 (like turn by turn navigation for example) that 1.5 does not have. I would suggest performing a factory reset once the update is completed (if you chose to update), a reset has been known to improve performance, and eliminate some issues with the phone after an update.

*EDIT* And there is a pretty good power bar widget in 2.1. ;) Although I'm still wondering about you mentioning that you had a power bar widget at some point.

Thanks to all of you. I will try taking it to where I bought it and see about the update.
Bishop, I'm not really sure I ever saw that widget. I was so overwhelmed for a few days after I bought it.
I REALLY like this phone though!
