Which do you think is better the iPhone 4 or the HTC Desire?

I'm HTC Desire all the way. I have been waiting for this phone since it was announced to drop in April (as Passion/Bravo). But its about to get ugly out there with T-mobile getting the iPhone. It drops in Tmo U.K. as I shared in this story:

Now that the iPhone has revealed its flaws, IMHO, the Desire stands alone as *the* phone. Android is an OS for people who think and who enjoy control of their own devices. I'll take that over "just another pretty face" any day!

Many of those who left comments on your article agree that the comparison was biased towards the iPhone, but that they have chosen to purchase the Desire. I agree!

Some people are new to Android and are here to do research. They want to know what are the best phones according to people who actually use them. It makes sense. You get a review from a guy who barely knows the phone or, you come here and interact with people who have lived with it and can tell you about their day-to-day experience with: real battery life (vs what we are told that we can expect), volume, call reception in various areas of the world and settings (indoor, outdoor, while driving), to root or not to root, etc.

These are things you may not get from a review, but an owner is happy to share his/her experience or opinion on the phone.

Thats why I said not to sound like a prick. I didn't want to come off as sounding like "hey get outta here you uninformative ass" I just feel that most users for both phones on either forums are going to fanboys of iphone or android. I used to read the complaint threads at howardforums before I bought phones.

I went with Iphone first and couldn't stand the lack of 3g by using it with tmobile so I went to the next best thing which was android. Granted I didn't do that much research this time which is why I have the pos cliq. Sorry to OP if I came off sounding like a prick.

I had a Desire. I've just sold it and bought an iPhone 4.

Why? You might ask. Well, it's not because I think that the Apple is the better phone. Not at all. I absolutely loved my HTC (first Android handset) but I wanted to see what the iPhone was like (I tend not to listen to all of the opinions surrounding handsets as a large percentage of them are biased). Fortunately I could afford to sell the Desire, and put some money towards the iPhone 4.

It's arriving today, and I'll be testing it out over the next few weeks. If it's no good (or if I simply preferred the Desire), then it will be eBayed while I can still get most of the money back for it, and I'll gladly buy the Desire again until HTC release the HD3.

I think that owning the phones yourself, and testing them based on your own preferences and likes/dislikes is the only way to tell which is the 'better' phone for you.
