Help Gmail won't update on my Incredible

My gmail app says that I have new messages, but it won't show the messages, despite my updating the inbox. I tried unsyncing the account, and resyncing it, but that doesn't work either. Anyone else have this problem?

I've got a similar problem with my Evo. Gmail contacts and calendar sync but not mail. Any advise?

AFter two months of working flawlessly, my gmail is also acting up a little. Most of the time it receives mail before my computer does, but more and more often now, I have to open the inbox and hit "menu" and choose "refresh" to get the mail to show.

I don't know what is causing this after having it working so well for a long time

One thing you can try is clearing the cache and data for your gmail app and gmail storage this can be done from:

Settings > Manage Applications
Then filter list for "All"
Scroll down for gmail, click, then clear the cache and data if it allows
Repeat for gmail storage

Then just go refresh gmail.

What "data" is cleared? Past emails, contacts? Etc

I didn't find that anything was lost. It just made it re-sync.

Gmail stops updating at the office on Galaxy 2...
I found that Use packet data was off once after going into low battery, powersaving mode. So check that is ticked.
Then another time I cleared the cache and data and switched off and on. That worked once or twice.

But today nothing worked so I used the browser to log into igoogle.com and signed in there and got email working after a fashion, but what a performance!!! Come on Google, get it sorted!!!

Works OK at home on WiFi but office is useless. We aren't allowed to log onto personal email at work on their PCs.
