720p video/3g hot spot and froyo soon

I would much prefer to see the signal strength/call quality update first. And preferably before my 30 days is up, otherwise I sadly will not be able to keep the phone :( Not that I've received it yet of course, still another week to go, but I hope this OTA does actually happen (it still hasn't for the Eris, correct?).

So let me get this right, your complaining about call quality and you don't even have the phone yet? ....

...if so get a grip lol, Not all Dinc have had this problem, all 3 of mine have been clear as a whistle, they've had other issues sure, but at least get the phone before you say your going to take it back geeze

It sounds like you are expecting to have signal problems. Remember, the people who post on forums with problems are a small minority. People usually don't post if things are working well. My signal strength and call quality has always been excellent with my Incredible.

I'm NOT saying that those who are having issues don't have legitimate problems, but don't just assume you are going to.

EDIT: Wow Contagous, you beat me by mere seconds! LOL

I had issues with call quality, but after doing the #228 thing, all my call quality things went away. I have seen the bars on the phone display really, really low, but I've never dropped a call on the phone. It's almost like the bars on the phone have nothing to do with the actual signal it's receiving.

Not complaining, but call quality is the top feature for me, so if it isn't there I won't be able to use the phone. It does seem to be the major complaint (along with the battery, but I can deal with that), which HTC has admitted and therefore has said they are releasing an OTA for, correct? They don't tend to release fixes for a problems that aren't widespread, I'd imagine. Of course, I'm hoping for one of the non-wonky DInc's I've heard about :D Is it true though, that the Eris hasn't gotten their OTA for call quality yet?

You could be confusing about when the 30 day return policy begins. If I'm not mistaken, that policy becomes active as soon as the device is activated, not at the time of the order.

As for the update (esp. call quality), I hope that it comes thru in a reasonable amount of time.

I emailed VzW about the call quality issues last Thursday and received a voice mail from a CSR Friday.

In a nutshell, HTC, Google, VzW, and Moto (from his mouth) are aware of the issue and working to get out an ota update as a remedy.

the 15th would be the earliest date, and it is just a rumor

and the signal strength problem sounds like it will be in a different update, but it would be nice to get all of it in one.

Two separate HTC reps told me a fix for garbled sound (their words), signal bar accuracy and reception improvement is being tested on their own dev team retail test units right now, which they said means an update is real soon.

If any update will be second, I suggest it is the 720p, since neither rep said anything about 720p. The OTA coming is to fix the issues mentioned above. Perhaps 720p is in it, but they gave no information about it.

Well, we can all be grateful that moto knows about our issue, I'm sure they'll rush an update out a.s.a.p.!!!

W.T.F???
