The only way you won't get the ota update is if your rooted, correct?
I would much prefer to see the signal strength/call quality update first. And preferably before my 30 days is up, otherwise I sadly will not be able to keep the phone Not that I've received it yet of course, still another week to go, but I hope this OTA does actually happen (it still hasn't for the Eris, correct?).

Incorrect. Rooted phones receive the OTA notification same as everyone else. The caveat is that folks with a rooted phone need to decline the update if they want to keep root. The only way you won't get the ota update is if your rooted, correct?

Not complaining, but call quality is the top feature for me, so if it isn't there I won't be able to use the phone. It does seem to be the major complaint (along with the battery, but I can deal with that), which HTC has admitted and therefore has said they are releasing an OTA for, correct? They don't tend to release fixes for a problems that aren't widespread, I'd imagine. Of course, I'm hoping for one of the non-wonky DInc's I've heard about Is it true though, that the Eris hasn't gotten their OTA for call quality yet?
the 15th would be the earliest date, and it is just a rumor
and the signal strength problem sounds like it will be in a different update, but it would be nice to get all of it in one.
My source actually said the htc rep said the ota and the froyo update were one in the same
I emailed VzW about the call quality issues last Thursday and received a voice mail from a CSR Friday.
In a nutshell, HTC, Google, VzW, and Moto (from his mouth) are aware of the issue and working to get out an ota update as a remedy.
