Alright so I went to the Verizon store yesterday & had to get my awesome rooted phone swapped out. Because it was doing that weird trackball, charge plug screwed up design flaw. Anyways, when I got home & was about to root my phone has HBOOT 1.49. So I can't root the common ways now. I know this has been asked many times, and dicussed many places & forums. But all of them are too hard to understand! I need a easy to understand & process so I can root my Eris back to EvilEris 3.0 . Many thanks!! :D

You've got several options now...without regard to HBOOT version! All of these work on any HBOOT version:

They're all great rooting regimens. Having said that, if I had to do it all over again as a n00b from scratch, and with the OTA, never having .. well you know what I mean :D, I'd take the first listed option there.

I used the "for Dummies" linked above, since this was my first attempt at rooting a device. I never tinkered with my Treo when I had it. It was a little nerve-wracking, but very simple. I just got a little light-headed from holding my breath every time I booted the phone.

lol! yeah, I rooted the "old" / "traditional way" (so did Frisco)...it took me two entire days to complete the process (fits and starts, you know)...its a wonder I didn't need oxygen!

Glad it work for you! Enjoy!
