I was going to wait to buy the Hero, but after seeing what Best Buy is selling it for I was going to buy it today after work, or order it online if they did not have it in stock.

My question is if I buy from Best Buy will I have to go through them for customer support, insurance for my phone, etc. I would rather pay the extra $80 if I will have to deal with bad customer service.
Thanks in advance

NO, it is a Sprint Phone! Maufactured by HTC for use on their network. BB insurance only if you purchase theirs. No different from Sprint purchased equipment except price and instant rebate. I have purchased the last 6 phones on my account from BB, no problems to speak of with respect to your post.
Call the BB store closest, if they dont have it in stock they should be able to direct you to which store does... If you just HAVE to have it, lol...

Happy Trails...

i recently bought the sprint hero and i went to bb for the first time after using sprint stores (and insurance). at best buy, the floor models are just displays and they dont actually work. fortunately my local best buy was in the same plaza as the sprint store, so i played with the phones at sprint, and went to best buy. the process was a little slower, as we had to go through sprint customer service from bb. i walked out paying $100 less (they use instant rebates instead of sprints mail-in which took me 6 months to get). best buy phone insurance is $2 more, but way way better. i know from experience

Yup, BB's insurance guarantees a new phone if they can't fix it (and the BB sales rep told me it's NEW, new, not refurbished). With sprint's you still have to pay for a new phone, just not as much as buying one outright.

Does anyone know if you can buy insurance after the fact? I didn't have the extra 10 bucks to pay for the first month upfront when I bought my phone, but I want to get the insurance.

I already had the Sprint insurance when I got my Hero at Best Buy. I saw the pamphlet on their insurance but didn't know much about it. I overheard one of the sales reps telling the lady next to me who was gettting 2 iphones that they can get the insurance at anytime within the 30 day return period.

I have a week left on my 30 days and will be going tomorrow to see about getting the price difference of what I paid and ask about getting the insurance. If the plan is way better than Sprints, it's a done deal in my book even for $2 more per month. Worth the peace of mind of no hassles from Sprint people.
