Battery life

So i've been reading alot of complaints about battery life but i got to tell ya i find its not bad for a phone of this capability. Last night i let the battery get pretty low. The warning came on to plug in. Charged it overnight and took it off at 4:30am. I used it all day, wi-fi off gps off gmail sync off background data on network connection on. At 3:30 pm still had 25% battery left and i used it moderately all day. made some calls, got some calls, checked e-mail, surfed the web a few times. I don't see any problem with this. thats 11 hours and still had life left. I think thats ok. by the way, i had downloaded task manager and a few other apps and watched the battery die rapidly so i uninstalled them. also didn't find handcent any better than the stock sms so i uninstalled that as well.

I've noticed that the bluetooth seems to drain the battery worse than anything else. My second day with the battery I didn't have any issues; it basically met my expectations. My third day I turned on Bluetooth and the battery dropped 12% in less than an hour. Once I turned off bluetooth (and did a few other things), battery went back to normal. I've since noticed the same thing so I leave it off. I think it's a bug... I know bluetooth usually kills the battery but on this phone it's ridiculous.

Make sure you do the complete battery drain once or twice.

And make sure you are keeping an eye on your sleep time. My battery life, even with BT, has been great.

Yeah, I've done both... my awake time is less than 20% and I've drained the battery several times... still hurtin when bluetooth is on though.

I've only had mine a few days and noticed a lot after installing Advanced Task Manager...use it! I downloaded the Handcent messaging app and went through and turned a lot of stuff off like the great tutorial here at Androidforums suggests. The most significant difference was putting the phone to sleep on your own. Don't wait for it to sleep, when you are done using it, hit that "red" end key!

i had the basic task manager and found it was draining the battery more than anything else. if you put your phone to sleep when not in use it will be just fine. right now i'm at 14% awake time and i've used my phone all day, made some calls, got some calls, checked e-mail several times, texted once, and browsed the web. i unplugged it at 6:30 am, now its 2:15 and i'm at 56% battery and 14% awake. i didn't like the task manager but maybe i had trouble figuring out how it worked. i'm going to check out the advanced app. by the way does anyone know how to listen to live am radio on the droid yet?

When I first purchased my Eris I thought the battery life was kind of short. After the second battery re-charge I went in and reduced the screen brilliance.

Go into settings, tap on Sound & Display, scroll down to Disable auto backlight and make sure Disable auto backlight is checked, then tap on Brightness, and adjust the Brightness to only about a 1/3 of the way up.

Out of the box, the screen brilliance on my Eris was set much higher. Reducing it seemed to help battery life more than any thing else. Now after 3~4 complete battery recharges along with the reduced screen brilliance my Eris now has very respectable battery time. Just remember, the brighter the screen the more current it will pull from the battery! Also make sure your screen time out is set to no longer than 1-minute max.
