Root updating clockworkmod from the phone, w/ s-off?

yeah, i saw that. my question was more of: how do we get the new CM files once they're updated? for example, the CM from that link is version 2.5.0.5...if they update to 2.5.0.6 (or whatever), where do i get the newest version?

i found this link on XDA:

Index of /recoveries

can we just take the file (i.e. recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.5-inc.zip), rename it as PB31IMG.ZIP and run it?

edit: looking at that file and comparing it with the one in the forever wiki, it seems they're not the same format...so we can't do it that way if i'm interpreting that right.

No. I believe this file is for use with s-on (I think). If you look inside the correct PB31IMG zip file (from my link to unrevoked), you will see 2 files: recovery.img and android-info.txt. These files are what you need to look for in order to know that you have the correct PB31IMG.ZIP file to use with s-off on your phone.

In answer to your question about WHERE to find it, the index you found is the right place... Now, what you need to do is to download the recovery image file for the DI, rename it to "recovery.img", grab the standard android-info.txt file (from PB31IMG), and zip them both up in a file named PB31IMG.txt. Then copy this to your SD card...and by now you should know the rest of the details... Hope this helps :)

ok, so let me make sure i am understanding this correctly...

- i take the image from that directory, and rename it recovery.img
- i take the standard android-info.txt file for the incredible
- zip both of these files into PB31IMG.ZIP
- install thru hboot

is that right? is there any special way i need to zip it?

That's it. Or you could just use this, it's already done for you.

.ZIP is a standard compressed file format. I use WinRAR. It's for use with the Windows OS.

So i've copied the zip file over to the root of my sdcard, i run the update, but once it's complete, all i get is a prompt that asks me if i want to restart. how to i get to the clockwork recovery screen. I have S-off but do not have root access on 2.2.

need to get to cw recovery screen so i can apply my super user rights and root. Can someone please give me some advice on what I may be doing wrong? Thanks!
