Help This sucks! My Droid X lost signal. Anyone else?

I must have the worst luck with phones. My Droid X was working flawlessly since I bought it last week and then suddenly won't get signal!

I called VZW and was on the phone with them for over an hour. Tried everything and come to find out, my Droid Eris (previous phone) connects just fine. Some problem came up with the Droid X!

Suffice it to say, they are sending a replacement in an week or two and I'm back to the Eris in the mean time. Anyone know how the heck this could've happened??

I tried airplane mode on and off, turned the phone off and on, took out the battery while the phone was on, did a full system reset and went through all of the system stuff through VZW.

It's frustrating that I thought that the Droid X would solve all of my phone issues. Unfortunately, that is not the case just yet. Has anything like this happened to anyone else with their Droid X?

Is your phone just not getting any reception what so ever?

Nope! And yes, it must be an antenna issue because my Eris works just fine. It is the strangest thing. It worked perfectly up until yesterday.

It certainly isn't killing me to use the Eris again for a while, but it just annoys me that my brand new top-of-the-line phone is having weird issues like I had with the Eris.

This same thing has been happening to me. Specifically, I had no problems making or receiving calls on my Droid X up until Monday of this week. I can text no problem, I can access the 3G for internet browsing. My phone will have 4 solid bars displayed but once I hit the keypad to make a call, boom - drops down to 2 bars and won't connect. It doesn't seem to matter where I am in my office building. I can make calls most everywhere else, though. I would chalk this up to my office being out of range but I was able to make/receive calls up until Monday and my comparatively crappy LG flip phone works fine in the office.

Also tried all the quick fixes (i.e. battery out/in, airplane mode on/off, power on/off while in office where I don't get signal, update software, etc.) and still nothing.

Was there a resolution to this or is this just a matter of me asking them for a new phone?

Twice my X has shown under cell standby 50% without signal. Very disturbing. Both times I had to toggle airplane on/off. I didn't really notice at the time if I was able to send or receive calls, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

What I do know is that it eats your battery alive. I never had this issue with my Incredible. I'm not sure if its a bug in the software causing it to report a false reading. Both times after toggling airplane mode it fixed it. I have no clue why it does it or what the fix is.

You probably mean option two, not option one. Choosing option one will reprogram your phone. Option two updates roaming capabilities, and in some instances, can have a positive impact on one's signal.

Thank you very much! I was having major issues over the past few days where Call Standby was taking up a huge amount of battery life. Since calling *228 with option 2, the battery life has been excellent! Seems like internet and everything else has worked better as well.

I had this same issue had to drive 55 miles to a bigger town and different towers then did the 228 number thing and it has worked sens. Wish they would have sent me a new one though.
Oh and verizon told me after being on the phone with them for 2hrs that it was because they had bought alltel and that they where updating soft ware for the towers they had bought. Ether way the phone sucks now it has full bars 3g and 1x but is slow as hell to connect. Hence the wishing I had a replacement.

You're welcome. I'm glad my suggestion helped.

IDk but I've seen the same problem now on two 'X's. I see constant drops from 3G to 1x regardless of the strength of the signal where I'm at. I'm convinced there's an inherent flaw. I've hard reset both and done the *228 dance. NO change.

It sounds like you need to exchange your phone. The only other suggestion anyone can give is to hit airplane mode (cut signal), reboot phone, wait a few minutes, then toggle airplane mode again (turn on signal). I doubt this will work though if you did a hard reset.
