Hello everyone.
I got a samsung i7680 ruing Andriod 2.1. After install about 30 apk programs, i got a message said the memory is almost full.
After searching and reading articles, i think to this problem is because the system installed programs in the memory instead of the SD card. And the way to resolve this problem is rooting to get the root permission, installing a custom ROM, and installing APPs 2 SD.
However, these approaches about said steps avaliable online are all about a certain phone model, such as HTC G3, HTC hero, etc. As the samsung i7680 is only sell in china, i cannot find out the method specific for my phone. For example, the custom ROM for samsung i7680 seems does not exist yet.

Based on my understanding, all these phones are runing the same operation system, the difference may only lies on the drivers for these hardwares, for example, the cameras. Can my samsung i7689 be install a ROM for HTC Hero? Is the mean for rooting Samsung i7500 suit samsung i7680?

Thank you very much.

You want 2.2.

Nope. Each phone requires specific methods of rooting and a ROM meant for one phone is not going to work on another even if they have near-identical hardware, and in your case the hardware isn't anywhere near alike.

Thank you unplugged and grainysand. Your replies are very helpful. After checking my phone, it seems can not be updated to Android 2.2 now and thereby cannot use SDMOVE. The reason is its OS is actually not a genuine Android 2.1 but an Android 2.1-based system called OMS (Opne Mobile System) developed by China Mobile. As grainysand said, I suppose I cannot updated by install a ROM and can noly wait Samsung to release an OMS based on Android 2.2. So poor..
