has anyone got the automation app tasker? If so anyone got any good profiles they reccomend?

I dig it. Most of my profiles are idiosyncratic to the way I work (open podcast app when I plug in headphones, turn off WiFi when I'm at work because our Guest wireless access is a pain in the ass, etc. )

I have a profile to do two quick vibrates when a call ends (Phone Idle state) because my old phone used to beep when a call ended and I missed that feature.

I have another one that puts a bright red "warning" icon in my status bar anytime I'm not connected to wifi. I disable wifi on the bus because otherwise when we drive by a campus building it'll connect to university wifi automatically, then not work. But then sometimes I'd forget to turn it back on later, and this reminds me.

I just got started a couple of days ago. It's awesome.

At the moment I use it to bump up the display timeout for certain games I play that require thoughtful pauses (e.g. Daily Sodoku).

I *really* wanted to fix the hideously broken Android "Silent Mode" so that it was actually silent - i.e. clamp down Alarm and Media Volume also, and then restore them to their previous values when Silent Mode was ended. But because the %SILENT variable isn't "dynamic" there's no visible event to handle when Silent Mode is set. I suppose I could set a timer event and poll for it to change state periodically (which is how Tasker internally handles App contexts - it polls every 500ms). I may give that a try even though I hate polling due to resource impact.

I have an action that does the right thing currently, and can associate it with the camera button event, but unfortunately Tasker can't handle hardware events when the screen is locked. It works fine when the screen is unlocked, but it's a hassle to unlock the device just to turn on Silent Mode, plus I want the camera button to actually take pictures when the phone is unlocked .

I also plan to set up some location profiles to automatically silence my phone when I go to church, and maybe turn on WiFi when I approach my neighborhood and turn it off when I leave.

I also want to see if I can figure out a way to nudge Google Latitude to update my location periodically, because it frankly seems buggy and does a poor job of that. I've thought of starting up Google Maps every now and then if the display is off (it would be annoying if I were actually using the phone at the time, so only when display is off) because that seems to immediately update Latitude. If I really wanted to get fancy I'd only do that when the battery was charged beyond some minimum threshold (which would be getting close to the algorithm that Google apparently failed to implement properly).

So lots of plans but only one simple working profile at the moment

I just found a new use: when the Clock application is active, I have Tasker disable screen orientation swaps. The reason is that I set a timer, put my phone on the desk, the alarm rings, I pick up the phone and get ready to push the "stop" button, and right then, every time, the screen changes orientation so I miss the button.

Not anymore. Tasker saves the day once again.

Edit: Also, now that the semester has started, I made a Google calendar for my classes and weekly meetings, and have Tasker put the phone on vibrate automatically at those times.

I just did the same thing too, and then set it to switch back after class is over, because I don't always remember to switch it myself.

Also, since I've noticed my in-call volume level always seems to set itself to half volume, I set a task that when a call comes in to raise the volume, and another that raises it when I call someone.

The link for the scripts are part of the package after you download.
Menu>Browse profiles...send you right to the website where you can find automated scripts prepared for download and yes you can upload plus 'how to' instructions.
Here is the link but downloads should be done through the phone.

seen all those, but what i mean is the scripts BESIDES those that people have came up with that others might not have thought of, just a way to be able to share them.

I wasn't aware of the level of complexity you can automatic tasks! Very, very cool. I assume everyone is using the pay version? I didn't see a "lite" or evaluation version.

I bought Tasker in the hopes that I could use it to remap the camera button to open Camera Zoom FX instead of the stock app. I can't seem to figure it out. Can someone help?

can tasker give you an indication when your phone is fully charged, either voice/ vibration,.preferably voice,
as I have the sensation and does give you any indication when fully charged
