Help sprint only vs airplane mode with no coverage

I have a HTC evo and I have no service at my school so after I got out today the battery was at 80% and the cell standby was above 50% with phone idle that was 18% I have GPS on with auto sync any opinions on this?

Well if you have no service, you should put the phone on Airplane mode. if you dont you will drain your battery very quickly. As for gps, if you dont have a cell signal, you probably dont have a gps signal either, so i would turn that off too.

GPS will not waste any battery unless it is being used by an app.

Correct, but there's no point in having it on if you cant use it.

More importantly, for that time without a signal, what was the % for "Time without a signal"? Just select the standby next time you take your phone to school.
