Neglecting Of Official Apps

What is with the neglecting of Official apps by the developers?

Facebook is a obvious example. The Android version of Facebook is nowhere near as polished as the iPhone and Blackberry equivalent.

The official Twitter app on the Desire is nice and colourful. However, it lacks customisation and doesn't have anywhere near the features of Twicca or a.n.other app.

I've recently installed Twicca and while it's not as pretty as the official Twitter app, the level of customisation is a lot better.

With Twicca I can do the following.

Quote and Retweet at the same time.
Automatically tweet longer than the 140 character limit

And a lot, lot more.

The two basic examples above should surely come as standard with an official app?

The only way is to contact the developers of those apps and ask them to include more features. If you go to the Market and search for the app there is always the option to meail them. If people do that, the developer will eventually do something.

While that is the case with most apps, I'm not so sure it's the case with the official apps.

You only have to read the comments section of the official Twitter and Facebook apps to see that the users are not best pleased, with some even offering their opinions constructively and stating what they would like to see added.

Up until now, this seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

Developers often say to email them and not just post comments, not everyone has time to go and look at the comments.

Surely you jest!
J/K lol, I'm sure developers stay away from the comments section unless they are looking for popularity feedback. In the case of Facebook, I don't think they are too worried. People use it because it's all they have aside from things like HTC's Sense, which is worse.
I'm jealous of the WebOS Facebook app, IMHO it's the best mobile FB app around.
