I got mine updated this morning with no problems. question...it seems that skype mobile, news and weather and other junk apps seems to show on my ATK everytime, even though i killed those apps. I know it might be my ATK needing an updated but is anyone else getting this?

Just uninstall or disable ATK, it will not work on those apps.

Let 2.2 manage itself, the apps running seem to be fine.

yep. pissing me off already, and ive only had this update 6 hours. really makes me wish i knew what i was doing when it comes to computers and stuff so that i can root and get rid of a bunch of this shit...because thats exactly what it is. just crap to try to get me to spend more money.

the ONLY thing i like from this update is it going into landscape mode both directions, and the flashlight app. thats it

Seriously...nobody is going to touch that one:)

Got Froyo today around noon - Atlanta. Everything seems to be working fine.

But please...how do you turn off that fricking annoying "D-R-O-I-D" at startup?

Everybody have a great holiday weekend!

Mine is silent during start-up and I can't figure out how to make it say "D-R-O-I-D". I haven't heard it yet and I've had Froyo for three days. I guess if that's the only issue I have I should consider myself lucky...

What's the 'date trick'?

(I turned off alarms and email ... basically the things that were set on a timer to check but that might have been overkill)

Turn on Wifi (might work without, but I dont know)
change date to Sept 30 or Oct 3 (menu> settings> date and time >(unclick automatic) then change date)
turn off phone
turn on
go to dialer and dial *#*#2432546#*#* (this is "checkin")
when it says checkin successful, go to menu>settings>about phone>check for updates

Hopefully it is there!

Still havent received the update. Las Vegas, NV

I'm not alone right? The Verizon OTA push is still rolling out yes?

As of this morning I had not receivede the update either. I did some research and finally figured out why. I now have received the update and 2.2 is running on my incredible...hopefully this will hook you up. (I apologize if this has already been covered)

I realized that there was a small OTA update for the incredible back in May that would not install correctly for me. I never thought much of it because the update didn't really include any significant enhancements. Well it turns out that if you had not installed that update back in May, you will not receive the 2.2 update. You need to go back and install the May OTA. See the following link to check if you did install that update...it will show you where to look and what to check for (software version). If you never installed that update it provides the update file and instructions on how to do it:

OFFICIAL: update.zip is finally here! - xda-developers

After I installed the May update I tried the "date" trick and bam 2.2 was starting it's download! (I tried the date trick several times prior and it never worked)

Hope this will help a few of you that are still agonizing over the lack of OTA...good luck!

You sir are the shit. This is exactly why mine didnt get the update. If anyone did the downgrade from leaked froyo to try to get the OTA, thats why this isnt working. The software they have you downgrade to is before the prefroyo update. You will need to do the prefroyo OTA update, then the date trick will work. Thanks.

Why do people keep saying they are connected through WiFi? You don't need to be connected to WiFi to get Froyo. Am I correct?

In case you haven't received an answer yet or the update, you're correct. It doesn't matter if you're connected to WiFi or not. The update comes OTA via 3G not through a wifi internet link.
