Just called Motorola

A friend of mine works at Verizon, and gave me a number (1-866-721-5480) to Motorola. Gave em a call about the update for 2.2. The lady said to keep checking in the phone for updates. She said there still working things out on it and there is no set release date as of yet.

Why would you want people to keep calling about the update when they can just check for it through the phone itself? We'll get it when it's ready and it's a support number not a "when are we getting the update" number.

If they want to, that's their prerogative.

You can disagree, but state your reasons why, rather than attacking or belittling those that disagree with you.

All he told me was, that was the Tier 3 number for motorola, updates "NOT SUPPORT". He said that is the number they call for all update info, not just 2.2.

You can wait and wait and wait and make every day an eternity, or you can enjoy the phone you have and do something else and make the time pass faster. No amount of calling is going to make it come faster. Finding out when it's coming out is also not going to make it come out faster.

When they decide on a release date, we'll all know it, we won't have to call Moto to find out.



EDIT: I only bring this up because the exact same thing occurred when 2.1 was coming out for the Eris. There were probably 3 in 5 topics that had to do with when 2.1 would come out and everyone whined and cried and SERIOUSLY the day it came out, topics started about when 2.2 would come to the Eris. It makes the wait so much longer.

I'd say the people calling Motorola are wasting Motorola's time/resources. They will not give some random caller a date when they know it will get posted on the forums and people will start freaking out if it doesn't show up on that date.

I wasn't ragging on him, I was just saying that I think calling them for something like this is a waste of everyone's time.

You guys just need to do what I do. Go out find the biggest crack rock for the best price possible. Smoke that in 2 hits and you won't even think about froyo much less anything else for that matter.
