It's early September!!! Where is the Froyo OTA???

So does anyone have an idea about when the droid x will get the froyo update?

Aside from the silliness above, I'll contribute a bit of my own silliness...

Multiple choice question. Choose three of the following four options:

1. It's not been released yet. A release date is, at present, unknown.
2. This question gets asked on a daily basis. See #1 for more details.
3. Forum members are frustrated with the question. See #2 for more details.
4. It's not option #4.

;) :D

hate to fuel the fire but I just talked to a regional manager at verizon and he is being told end of september

I think you LOVE to fuel the fire.

Dont have much to say, as Ive been there already with the Eris, Droid 1, and now the X - so w/e, itll be here. But, I can share a photo with you :) not sure how it happened, but we were screwing with a ipod over the summer, and this pic is the result, lol

Also,

I ran your picture through Video IQ and it Noticed too many differences in the lock icon at the top for it to match the second photo.

Also, It registered the structure of the font based on the given numbers and letters and found that the computer generated model of the "Commas" would look different. So i'm calling BS.

However, Video IQ uses multiple shots to render computer images to run algorithms, but because I only had still photos the results may not be 100%

It's taking everything I have to resist the urge to follow suite with the others above me.

It's been scheduled for release by late Summer. We're in the last month of Summer, so it could be any day now. It was originally stated that it would be August, (if I remember correctly) and then later changed to September. It's supposed to be an early September release, but we're already well on our way into the middle of the month.

Basically, an exact date has not been publicly stated. All we know is that it's supposed to be pushed some time this month.

You can always try the leaked version if you're dying to try it out, but you'll probably want to upgrade to the official copy at some point. The leaked version tends to be buggy and you can't upgrade straight to the OTA update if you're running it.

Please keep personal insults to yourself and out of this thread. If someone has posted what they feel is pertinent information about Froyo, then it is just as valuable as any other post. Attacking other members is not going to help contribute to this cause and will not be accepted. Thank you.

Wow y'all actually don't have anything better to do than make stupid comments on here. I wish I had an exciting life like that! If you don't like something on here then just don't look at it.

I think it takes more talent to be a smart-ass than to ask the same question repeatedly without doing a search first.

I was just at the VZ store to have them look at my X. I have a dead pixel, now going on 4th Droid X. But the guy there said they were just informed this morning that the update is going to start hitting phones on 9-20. I take that with a grain of salt though.

I'm guessing that's just another estimate, because if they just delayed it because of problems, there is no guarantee it will be fixed by then, so not sure how they can put a definite date on it.

I hope it's the 20th or sooner though.

The ONLY reason I am eager to get 2.2 OTA is hopefully it will fix the dreaded horrible ringer volume on the X. The volume is so low and 2.2 is SUPPOSE to fix that (we'll see)...lol!

One other point, everyone has to remember the Droid X is a different phone. It has different features and is structured differently than the Droid and Droid 2. So, even though 2.2 may be available for those two phones, VZ, Motorola, or Google (however you want to look at it) may still have some issues with the update for the X that need to be ironed out. Hopefully, they will get it out soon...I love my X and the only thing I can't stand about it is the horrible low ringer/notification volume.

I have found after several iphones and one on my dx that usually a dead pixel isn't really dead, just stuck. I've been able to fix them by applying some pressure to the screen at the location of the pixel while running a fast cycle strobe app that runs through all the colors (there used to be a site for fixing the iphone ones that would strobe, but many of the screen flashlight apps have it as a feature as well).
