I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome FRG22D Based Froyo ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-mods/4342-rom-smoked-glass-charity-themed-rom-frg22d-version-7-01-all-working.html

I don't think asking for personal donations is in line with the ideas behind open source software. Thus, I have decided to collect donation money for charity.

Please Donate, read below...

ALL (100%) of the money will go to NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION: Oil Disaster Recovery. I will be fully transparent in this process and will show any donors proof of the organization's receipt. I know this is a new idea, I hope it catches on. Please check out the organization at:

So far I have gotten excellent feedback on the ROM.

Instructions...

Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".

File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.

Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG701-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
Reboot.

SPRecovery
Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
Select Allow update.zip Installation
Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
Reboot.

If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.

Here's a few quick screenshots:

ROM is very nice. Snappy(fast) as usual for your ROMs. Still was hoping for a battery percentage in the battery icon, or possibly just taking out the battery icon and putting the percentage number in its place. But other than that it is running really good. Took about 24 hours to get acclimated to the phone it seemed like. Was a little buggy when I first installed it but it is running smoothly now. Good work. And BTW, really digging the lockscreen music controls!!

I love this ROM/theme. It has been 100% stable, feels faster than UD8 that I was on previously, and has become my new ROM of choice.

I feel like you built it specifically for me. I was reading all of your tweaks, and essentially they are all the ones I want, and none of the extra BS I don't need.

I did have to install spare parts to speed up my transitions, but otherwise it was pretty much set it and forget it (I did drop the kernel to 1.0ghz ulv).

Terrific ROM! Best battery life of any froyo ROM I've tried (using consistent kernel across all ROMs tested). I'd like to know the difference between 8, 81, 82, 83, etc. Each time I check this thread, it seems there's been some update, but I'm not clear what's being updated each time. Whatever it is, it's working well. Great job! Keep up the good work.

Don't like that the most commonly used scripts aren't included with this ROM like sysro, sysrw, etc... makes having to remove apps that much harder..

**UPDATE**
After getting Root Explorer, I was able to remove some needless apps (corpcal, email, etc.) and get LauncherPro loaded up. I also flashed my trust Chevy 1Ghz ULV kernel. I don't say this lightly, but this is easily the FASTEST ROM I've used to date. I mean, it is ridiculously quick! Granted, I've used other ROMs before that were fast, but this is by far the fastest. I like some of the customizations (naming shortcuts, rotary lock, etc.), but speed is my biggest thing and this ROM has it. Awesome job!

How come when I install this rom my droid only loads up the eye and the "DROID" text over and over? what does wiping and clearing cache do exactly..

You start from scratch basically.

The ROM you were running before had files that conflict with mine.

Your apps will automatically restore.

You can backup texts (if you care) with an app called SMS backup and restore.

You can backup your sop's setting and data with a program called titanium backup.

Both are free in the market...enjoy!

Pm me if you have more questions or need more detailed instructions.
