my guess is there are are least five pinout states (some of whcih maybe the same) for the usb and two for the mine four pole.

here are the submitted galaxy s pinouts for the 3.5 mm a the main pinout submission site, I do not know if they are accurate as it seems strange r/l audio would be different, but if correct for video that would be same as archos and creative zen standards:
On the micro usb,
1) standard pinout seems to charge at 500, with data connect, & mount, user selectable.
2) I am not certain if theie is a data resistance jump or short and if so across which pins at what impedance for full charge, but it seems to be moto standard x/4 to 4/5. Anyone checked?
3) car dock micro usb pinout for nav
4) home dock micro usb
5) futre MHL consortium (Mobile HighDef Link) video out through usb micro. it looks like a third party oem for future implimentation dumped some on the market early before software was implemented, as I do not think mhl software is ready yet, but it seems our galaxies epics have the capability for future implementation (4-6 months?)

Anyway shall we have placeholder for sharing pinout info and testing?

Anyone chiming in with tests would be great!

I think XDA developers forum would be a better place for this kind of discussion.
What exactly do you want to test ?

I can confirm that 3.5mm headphone jack has the same pinouts as most recent Nokia phones. I am using a Nokia AD-54 adaptor with an inline mic for making calls while using a pair of my own headphones, and a Nokia CA-75U TV out cable for connecting it to TVs over RCA interface.

I recently ordered a Micro USB to HDMI cable off eBay, just to see if the Micro USB to HDMI interface works on SGS as some sites have indicated, but I have very little hope of it actually working :p.

First since it goes to consumers buying av cables and chargers and not jsut hacks or roms, so it belongs on androidforums as well as suers will want to have the info

Second, samsung already has had a micro usb to hdmi manufactured. and it is a founding member of the MHL consortium and said it will be implementing it on Galaxy. But the final work isn't expected for the next few months meaning software necessary to getting that cable to work (if it is the right one and the vales may have to have active components) are expected first quarter 2011.

Keep your cable if it is the actual samsung one referenced in my link. it will work eventually.
