Help screen orintation

I think it depends on where you put your hands. I've noticed if you place your hand under the side that you want to be the bottom, the screen rotates almost instantly...but if you hands are on the sides it takes a second or two.

that could be, its just when i pull it out of my pocket its natural to have a side grip. It would be nice for a way to speed this up. Its really my only complaint with the phone other than the low volume issue

Is there any way to manually rotate the screen? As in, turn off automatic screen rotation but then on rare occasions I do like to rotate the screen for internet pages... any software that allows you to do it by swiping something instead?

I haven't seen anything, but I have figured out a workaround I use daily. I use SwitchPro Widget (in the market, but I believe it's a paid app), and create a button on the bar to lock or unlock auto screen rotation. It works great for me. You could probably even find a free widget or maybe try creating a shortcut to that portion of the settings menu. Hope I helped somewhat, and good luck with it.

If you're referring to your homescreens lagging when rotating, I wouldn't expect it to be fast. It's your homescreen, not an application. It has to rotate your shortcuts, widgets, notification bar, etc. Don't expect it to just snap back and forth on a whim. It's normal for it to be slow.

If you're referring to an application orientation rotation, (phew) then something might be wrong if you're experiencing heavy lag. My Internet browser screen snaps into place when I rotate it and other applications are perfectly fine as well.
