Is there any type of speed dial widget i can use to easily call people? Something wehre I can put all of my contacts on the page so i can see all of their pictures and just click to call. Similar to the speed dial of the touch pro 2. Im using Launcher pro and dont see anything for it

I just create direct dial shortcuts for all my frequently called contacts. They're all on one screen so I just slide over, tap the name and it calls the person. Not sure about a widget that does this but if you want to try the direct dial route, long-press on the screen, choose shortcuts, then direct dial, then chose the contact. Ofcourse it'll only allow 16 of them but I still got 2 empty screens just incase I need to add more. :)

+1

You can also put them into Folders if you want more than 16. Longpress, choose Folder.. (to rename a Folder, open it, then longpress on the title and enter the new name)

I added contacts as widgets to a side page to the left of my home page (sorry new to all the android stuff so don't know the proper lingo):

First move to the home screen window you want to place your contact widgets then: Long press home screen > shortcuts > Contact > select the contact you want.

This places a contact as a widget and then you can choose Call, open contact, Msg or Mail from there.

Right now each contact has the same widget image... hoping once I get pics associated with contact it will use the image for faster ID, but I don't have pictures for my contacts yet.

I find it interesting that no one is suggesting using the 'People' HTC widget that allows the choice of two screen formats (one a grid of people with images and the other a list of people with images). I'm assuming that others have found this widget flaky like I have. Before the android update earlier this year it seemed to work fine but lately it 1) sometimes does nothing after tapping the contact, 2) sometimes deletes the picture after tapping, 3) brings up the contact info 4) highlights the contact (green) then does nothing.

I just installed Speed Dial Lite by CRinUS to try that app. You are limited to only 16 speed dial images/contacts just like the Direct Dial app. The one nice thing about the HTC widget is that you could continue adding contacts by scrolling down and the images were bigger.

Tradeoffs, that's what it's all about. :)
