1st you'd have to loose your phone, then have the unfortunate luck of having the one in a million chance that the person who found it, knows about this flaw....
Some of these things get blown way out of proportion...
This makes me happy...Now I know when I find a droid x or droid 2 lying around, and its locked, I can contact the persons mother/father/home and find out how to get it back to them
Do people actually use the pattern unlock or something similar? Maybe it's just my area, but practically no one uses things like that to actually lock their phone.

That's what I was thinking. So this flaw lets you make calls to people in the phonebook even when the device is locked. Does it let you do anything else? Can you open apps or surf the net like this? If not, what's the big deal? Moto may have done it like this on purpose so you can easily make hands-free calls on the go without having to unlock the phone first anyways.

I don't have a pattern lock set up, just the standard swipe to open. I was able to activate the screen with the power button, press the voice button and say "call XX"... and, while still sitting on the lock screen, I called XX.
I don't use any kind of security on my phone. No pin, password or unlock pattern. So, if I ever have the misfortune of losing my phone, it does not matter.
Works on mine. But then again, I just have a slide lock protecting it and if one cant figure out how to get into my phone that way, they probably wont know about the glitch at all..haha
