Helicopter Game on Android Market

Recent Changes:

* new title menu
* new font
* parallax backgrounds
* new UI layout

Please try it out and let me know if you have any feedback/suggestions.

Thanks to everyone who is trying the game! I really appreciate your time and the comments you make on the market.

Download, played, commented and rated. very fun! The only bug I experienced was it took a few seconds after my first death for it to say tap to restart, about 3. After that twas smooth.

I did that on purpose to let the helicopter parts time to disappear and get off screen. I agree with you that it might leave the player confused, and will try to implement a fix for the next release.

It runs fine on my Droid 1, but the cave walls kind of mess with my eyes as I'm playing. Maybe have the walls be solid rather than the little pipes that they are now?
Great suggestion... I will give the option of having a solid color in the next version.

I'm a developer too and I found that implementing android ACRA into your code works amazingly well at reporting any crashes that don't get sent to you automatically.

On a crash, instead of the usual (annoying) force close dialogue it will automatically send you directly a logcat dump or any ANR problems. It's sent automatically and you can also leave a nice polite 'sorry' message.

It worked amazingly well for me to iron out those small bugs that are device specific.

Here it is <Google - ACRA>

Very good and very easy to insert into your helicopter game.

That sounds useful, I will take a look at it for the next implementation.

ran fine with no issues on any difficulty for me, granted not my style of game but seems like a good game and better than the stadard ones.

Thanks for the rating and review!

I think that people might be rating it one star because it opens into openfeint and they dont know how to get back to the game, so I added a note in the market hopefully it should clear up some confusions.

Anyone else getting this problem? I can't seem to replicate it.
Nope. I just tested the game and it works great for me. I tried going through all the difficulties multiple times, Openfeint on and off, modern graphics on and off,...and no crashes. The only minor issue was the first death delay (first time running the game) already reported by Aggie12. I find the game responsive and smooth and fun! The only improvement I would want would be helicopter sounds and a spectacular crashing sound. Keep up the good work!

found a bug:
i paused the game (pushed the menu button) and then tapped the screen to unpause, which worked but i coiuldn't control the heli. it just went straight down. And now the screen has two messages overlapping each other:

TAP TO RESTART THE GAME

and

PAUSE (which appears underneath TAP TO RESTART....)

If I push the menu button right now, the PAUSE disappears (and reappears if I keep pushing it), even though the game is over.

EDIT:
I just realized that you can always 'pause' the game even before the game starts. If I may make a suggestion:
(1) allow players to only pause a game in progress (not a big deal though)
(2) move the "pause" display on the screen down a bit because it appears underneath existing words on the screen (ie. "tap to restart the game" or "tap to start")
(3) allow players to unpause the game by tapping on the screen, which only half works right now.
