Hi all, my first post here; I rewrote from my original one. Hope this one is more clear....

For a phone that claims to be so "social media" friendly, with Friend Stream and all, I'm surprised the HTC Desire doesn't allow to import the "website" category of my contacts.

When I use HTC Sync 2.0 to import contacts from Outlook 2007, none of the websites of my contacts get imported. Is that normal? Does it just import the email, phone #s and addresses?

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Let me get this right so I can try to get the correct answer

You have friends that have websites and you want to transfer their websites over to your Google contacts?

Just want to check :)

I read it that the OP has Outlook 2007 contacts on his PC that have a website populated in the Web site address field. When syncing with HTC People using HTC Sync as there is no matching field in HTC People this doesn't get populated on the phone.

Also there is no field within HTC People to add a URL. (Yes you could manually type it into the 'notes' field but the URL isn't clickable.

Yep, you read it right. And :( that it's not possible.
Any thoughts on how to right this? 3rd party contact app? Maybe in the next Android update? I know I could bookmark all my friends' sites, but I like having things nice and tidy and all in one place.

But hey, thanks y'all for chiming in on my thread; ain't I civil? ;)

Yup...I'd already come across the issue but i actually rate the HTC People app pretty highly with it's social integration so forgave it this shortcoming.

You may find a third party app that does it but other than this HTC People is pretty good...

I'd just drop HTC support an email...you never know they might turn around and say "yeah we know..will be fixed in next update..."

Just to add...it's not an issue with HTC Sync...I sync all my contacts with a MS Exchange and they still don't appear. It looks like it's purely down to the lack of a 'Website' field in HTC People

Yeah I would say drop HTC a line and tell them what you want. They are generally good people who like listening to what we have to say.

Not seen any apps myself but always worth searching.

:D You most certainly are, think we all woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning :D
