Review: 3200mAh Battery+Cover (warning: lots of pictures)

I have only had the phone a few weeks, and overall it has been good, but the battery only lasts about 24-30 hours under moderate use, with push email, juice defender, and a few phone calls.

So I ordered the Mugen battery and cover, direct from Mugen. Took about three weeks to show up, about $100.

Fit and finish is better than expected, battery life on the first charge was three days. That will probably drop as I may leave more stuff on all the time.

That is a Roots Phone Case RL1LBK.

Sound is okay, but I just bought a Blueant T1 headset to go with it anyway.

There is a bit of space inside the case going to waste. I'm thinking LED flash/light, inductive charger, magnetic plate/mount/holder....

Bonus: the camera lens is out of the way of your fingers and other objects, but is not obscured by the new back cover.

I will melting or drilling a small pair of holes near the bottom of the cover to secure a lanyard. Using the hole at the top doesn't work for me and I always think the phone is the wrong way up.

Wow. I mean, if it lasts that long then its pretty good...

If I did not care about looks, then this would be good.

But no way in hell would I ever put that thing on my phone even if it was given to me for free.

I'd do the same thing if it would allow me to only charge at night, instead of at least once during the day, with my HEAVY phone and screen use. To me, battery life is THE biggest issue with this phone. Even bigger than the freak'n ##!!*&$#%@**!* GPS issues.

I'd rather have a brick with staying power than a beautiful sculpture that has to be practically moored to it's damn charging cord.

It appears to have al least doubled the runtime of the phone. I did have some battery drain issues before (touchdown email and pure calendar widget) which I resolved before installing the battery.

Worth it? Well, I get to expense my phone, plan, and accessories to work, but I would buy the battery regardless. Why have a muscle car of a cell phone with a 3-gallon gas tank? And you still have the OEM battery as a backup on a long trip. I will make a spacer so I don't need to carry the OEM case.

And so it's not a ladies phone anymore.

In the land of Stationwagon Utility Vehicles and pickup trucks there's complaints about a thick cell phone? I thought those people bought iphones?

It would be nice, if that bulk could be used for something. I understand it isn't all battery? One could fit a nice shutter button for the camera there, and a flash-unit. Something to do with all that power....

Genuine Samsung Galaxy S Extended Battery Case

I've been trying to buy this since I got the phone. It does not seem to be available in the US. T-Mobile dealers have never even heard of it.
