Help Is my headphone jack going out?

I bought a pair of bodyglove earphones a month ago. I've been using them with the phone since I brought home. I've had no trouble with them. Today, they started going out. I could only hear out of the left one unless I turned the plug around. I put in the headphones that came with the phone and so far they are working. I am still worried it is the jack that is bad though, because of all the other problems with the phone. I just find it hard to believe the earphones would die that quickly. Actually, wouldn't it have to be the jack if they work when I turn the plug? The headphones that came with the phone fit REALLY snug so maybe they'll keep working... BUT no one can hear me through them. That's why I always use the body glove. Is it the headphones or the jack? Pls help.

Edited to add- put the bodyglove earphones in the computer and turned on music. The earphones are going bad. WOW. That was fast!

Also- does anyone know if the skull candy earphones are good quality for making calls? I am going to be buying MORE. Darn. Guess it's better than a new phone tho'.

It could be how they were stored. Strain on the cord can damage the wire inside. I had these nice sony earbuds go bad, though this was after more then a couple of years of use, the wire near the jack wore out and I could see the copper inside and it was cut. I didn't know bodyglove made earphones, but I'd say go sony, I've always been happy with their stuff. Even the cheap ones worked rather well.

Chances are the plug is not 100 percent pushed down. Push it down, and when it wont go down any further, put more force, it will click all the way down, now you will hear just fine :)

They were pushed in all the way. I use them every day and have never had an issue until now. Used then on my computer and had same results. Oh well.

I have this issue on my new phone. I've tried it with two pairs of headphones. I either have to turn them, or push down with more force than usual, but the slightest movement or push causes the right earphone to lose sound.

Edit: My bad. I've found that you have to push the headphones in, and then push more until they click.

haha I did the same thing the first 2 times I tried to use them.... I was pissed then I looked real close and realized that they were not pushed in all the way. man I felt dumb.

You should check out the full metal jacket from skull candy. Those earphones are my favorite out of all the ones I've owned over the years. They come in so many different styles, I've had the black ones, and now I'm using the gold ones. The best thing about skull candy is their warranty. I've had mine start going bad after a year of use and they replaced them no questions asked. I wish cell phone makers were like that....

I tryed pushing the headphones it came with all the way in but.now I can only hear from the right earphone, I was working yesterday :( Please help me. help!

Try pulling the headphones out just a tiny bit...does it make a difference? Listen while slowly pushing the headphones in...do you hear sound in both ears at any point?

Do you have another headset you can try? That would be the next thing to do if it still doesn't work; it could just be that the headphones you're using are bad as opposed to their being a problem with the phone. Also, have you rebooted the phone?
