Promo plan for unlimited data/text...

Wow, I really need to be reading in here more often. I just called and switched. With my three lines it is saving me about $50 a month.

She said it was only for certain phone numbers and it wasn't being rolled out to everyone at this time. I didn't want to get into the "Everybody on androidforums got it" at that point. My cubemates were laughing at the fact that I got shot down.


Edit: I called back this afternoon and my new friend Edward hooked me up. Rule #1 of dealing with CSRs: If the first one denies you, call back later and talk to someone else. Eventually someone should help you out.

Do you have to sign a new contract to get this? I see some are and some are not, and need a definite answer... If I was to get this and then get a new phone (2yr contract) as well, would that extend my contract out 3 years?

i was told no contract
and if you did sign one, then got a new phone and signed another, the last one should be the only one that matters

I have called three times for this promotion and have been denied all three times. I think they have cracked down on this because the last guy I spoke with indicated they are aware of how people are getting the phone number etc. If you dont have the offer on your account they wont give it to you.

I just called and was able to get it. I just told him I had heard about the deal and wanted to see if our account was eligible for it. He set me up with no problem. He said it would extend all the lines for 1 year from today, but would not affect us adding new phones with our current discounts.

Hmm, everytime I call they ask "Are you Calling About a Text or Email you received". Either way I answer they check my account and say sorry.....

When I called the guy explained that this was restricted to people on a family plan That had 1400 minutes and above. He also mentioned data plans on each line. I would assume that similar requirements have to be met for a single line.

One of the reasons I think I was eligible is that the 1400 plan is already what we have. We also already had the unlimited text and data on 2 of our lines so adding it to the third was no big deal.

Anybody grab this for 3 smartphones? Wondering if it beats my smartchoice, and if you get a work discount does it apply to the whole bill or primary line only. 170 after taxes unlimited txt/data 500 minutes. Would be great to apply discount to whole bill

We have three smartphones on our plan. It is $170 plus tax with 1400 minutes and the 10 friends and family numbers and unlimited texting. I don't think you can apply any other discounts to this though.

I hesitated contacting Verizon about this promotion, however I finally gave in and sent customer service an email. I did not receive the promotional email and almost thought I wouldn

I don't think you can apply any other discounts to this though.

The corporate discount can absolutely be applied to this deal. Looking at my plan online right now it shows a 20% discount on the $110 monthly access charge on the primary line. For some reason it doesn't show the $29.99 data plan but it does have the TALK & TEXT PLUS DATA $20 discount and 20% - FEATURE DISCOUNT so it may actually stack those two together. I guess I won't know for sure until I get the next bill. Either way, this new plan saves me almost $20 a month while giving me basically unlimited minutes and texting. It's pretty much win - win.

well i found the first issue with the promo plan

you can only upgrade your phone through verizon.
if you try a 3rd party, they want yo to do the basic plans and add everything, its for thier commision
if you do this then get the promo again, they hit you with thier etf.
so, you have to pay more for a phone.

Just so you and others who think similarly know, 3rd party resellers do not have access to Verizon promotions.

How did you get charged for an ETF for upgrading through a 3rd party and then calling in for the Promo? You're not disconnecting, which is the only way you can be charged an ETF.

In fact, I'd bet if you call the number for the Promo, and they tell you you're not eligible for the plan, that you can still get the Promo plan by telling the rep you'll take the phone back and disconnect.

i didnt get charged
i just wanted to buy the phone from them, and sign a new 2 year commitment, and not change my plan
they couldnt do that, they HAD to enter a plan that was in thier system, and mine wasnt.
i was told if i signed through them with the plan they could give me
and then i call and switch to my promo plan there would be an ETF to them, not vzw, as i would have to sign a contract stating i would not change my plan for x amount of time.

i was under the impression they could just leave my plan alone, both lines already have data so it was not needed.

they do not have the option to do this.

The plan that you are referring to is a promotional plan. However, Verizon Wireless set it up where it is only available for customers that are residing in the Texas area.
