Hey everyone, yesterday I was bored and updated my velocity .1.1 rom to .2, then decided to update to .3 (w/out cache wipe/clean). I immediately liked the new colors on the bars, etc... seemed to jump around quicker. But had a lot of problems with downloading from the Market. Just to test out prior to wiping, while in Rom Manager (which only shows velocity .2 for DL.. got .3 from here somewhere.) I hit extras (cool stuffs) and downloaded Superuser 2.3.1 ef Eclair/Froyo..... Wiped all my apps and stuff and the phone loaded up great.

Firmware is still 2.1-update1 w/ Velocity 0.3. Apparantly there is a .4 out for the Ally which I cannot find... and apparantly every other Verizon Droid has Froyo and Firmware 2.2 w/ Froyo and have Flash, etc.... When is our Ally due? Is my phone as up to date as it can be?

Velocity .4 is in beta and not publicly available.

Most (if not all) of the "Droid"-branded phones have 2.2. The Ally doesn't. The reasons why are known only by LG and/or Verizon.

The Ally will not likely support Flash even with 2.2 as our chipset is not currently supported.

2.2 is coming ((insert month here) | (never)) according to ((Verizon) || (LG) || (insert forum posting here)). That should cover all possible answers floating around. I suppose we'll know when (if) we get it.

When flashing a new ROM you must always wipe cache/data/dalvik. This is the reason you are having problems.

Thanks, yea that about sums it up I guess.. I own yet another phone with no Flash Support grrrr. I like the .3 so far, seems just a tad different than the velocity .1.1 or whatever I had. Color scheme on top bar looks nicer.. is that the difference between Superuser Eclair/Froyo & Cupcake/Donut?

I just want this phone to last awhile and not lag, and so far so good. I've used apps like Startup Cleaner 2.0 which works nice a little bit I guess, but definitely doesn't stop everything from booting upon the phone's booting up/restart. Memory Task Cleaner, and Advanced Task Killer.. both seem to do exactly what they are supposed to.

Using task killers isn't recommended on the android platform. Android has its own native task management system.
