Hi, folks. I go back to bag phones, but am totally dumb-struck by all the technology I just bought in to. I went from a DARE to a Captivate, and, aside from learning Android, I have a couple of areas to learn new stuff. I thought the DARE was pretty nifty, but the display of the Captivate, (dare I say it), captivated me. Am I allowed two puns in one sentence? My old eyes just HAD to have it, even if it entailed a whole bunch of new stuff to learn.
That's the hello.
Now I start asking for some of you folks to share some information.
First is the lack of an external antenna jack on the phone. As an RVer, we are often in poor reception areas, especially for internet tethering. I guess I need a velcro stick on antenna or a cradle to connect to my antennas, then? Do these things work as well as a direct connection? Their ads seem to mention only use with an amplifier, not just an antenna. Or should I just break down and buy an amplifier? What about the Wilson Sleek? It looks like a combined cradle and amplifier that can connect to an external antenna.
Second, is that this phone is supposed to tether wirelessly to my laptop. This is also totally new to me, and the manual is not very clear. Can anyone direct me to a site that would help me learn more about this? Or are the alternative wired tethering systems better? Are they compatible with Verizon's software?
