Help What does the linked icon do in address book?

I go into address book and see a contact and a green link bar that says linked then when i click it it unlinks. What exact;y does that do? Does it unlink from google contacts if i have my phone syncing to google and or facebook? PLease let me know. Thanks... BTW loving my new EVO. Just gave up the iphone 4 for it. Payed cancelation fee and all lol... Just so many more customization features on this phone and i only scratched the surface

it links up crackbook contacts and google contacts. it reads your gmail contacts and see if they match and suggests the links. same for crackbook...

Also if you end up adding an email address or anything for a contact you already have but for some reason you dont do it under their contact card you can link the two so only one contact card shows up instead of duplicates.

So it has nothing to do with Facebook? An does it sync pictures with tout gmail acct too? And what is crackbook? I have noticed that when u assign a picture to a contact and after is syncs with Google the picture is screwed up and looks terrible. How do I prevent that from happening? Thanks.

crackbook is facebook (addictive yo yo yo get it?)

if you have synced with facebook it will sync the pics from there...if not it will sync them from gmail or you can assign a different pic...this is customized in edit of that contact by pressing on their picture at the top left I am not exactly sure what you are referring to about the terrible pics...all of mine that I have done look fine but I assigned them from the phone. are you assigning them from the phone or from google desktop?

Ok I think I got it buy do i have to go through each contact and sync it or can i do the whole address book in one shot? I lionked FB but when i go to a contact it shows the green bar disconnected when i press it it says link to facebook and i click FB and it links i hope i dont have to do this with all contacts. Thanks...

As noted above, the address book will do its best attempt to automatically inter-associate all contacts (probably using e-mail addresses and/or names as the key) - of course you'd have to have say FB, GMail, whatever configured as a sync on your phone for it to work.

yes...unless there are major differences in information most will automatically link
