Help Not able to add or edit contacts

Every time I try to add a new contact or edit an existing one, I get a message saying the application People has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Tried a reboot , no luck. Any ideas to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried adding a contact from the computer end?

Yes , that worked fine. I don't understand why all of a sudden I can't do this on the phone. I have always been able to with no problem?

See if there's any cache that can be wiped in manage applications for the people app, then reboot phone

No Cache, just data?

Assuming you are using gMail to store contacts, you should clear the Contacts Storage data on the phone and let the phone resync. I have seen cases where the Contacts Storage file became corrupt.

Make sure you backup your gMail contacts on the computer before you do this, just in case (though with the new Contacts restore from Google, you probably don't have to do this any more).

Thanks for the advice, I cleared the contact storage data but still no luck. I can add a new number, but when I try to add a name and then press OK, it stops and wants me to try again?

I used to have the same problem a while ago and it seem like I was the only having that problem 'cause no one was able to help me, so I ended up doing a hard reset and that's how I got it fixed!

I was hoping to avoid that, but it looks to be the only option.

Not that difficult to do a complete wipe and reset. Once you sign into your google account and your phone starts up, go directly to the market and download your once previously downloaded applications. Do not back out of the market because the applications will only be there once and then you will have to search for the apps again. Then set your phone back up after downloading your applications
