I have been using the Case-mate tough case and decided to try something a little thinner. I didn't really need the added protection the case mate offered. Here is the review on the case-mate if interested.

Sorry in advance for the crappy pictures.

So I really liked the Seidio Innocase II but didn't want to wait to get it in the mail. I have read how the Best Buy Platinum Case is the same thing so I went to Best Buy to pick it up. Here is my little review.

Walked in and saw they had the case in gunmetal for $29.99 and then they had the case and holster for $34.99 in black. I wanted black so I picked up the black with holster even though I may never use the holster and it was $5 more.

Upon looking at the packaging you can see it is in fact made by Seidio.

Also the case is the newer style material and has more felt than the original.

The case is super easy to install. Slides right on and did not catch on the screen protector. It is tall enough on the back to not hit the camera when on the counter. Also if you put it face down it keeps it off of the screen.

All the buttons are cut out fully. The power button and volume buttons are a little akward because the case gets in the way a little. That is my only real complaint but you get used to it. Also it would be nice if it was cut out more on the aux slot so you can use a 90* cable with out it hitting.

Holster is face in design only and cant be used the other way. Very secure and it swivels to turn the phone sideways.

Overall the case is pretty perfect for me. I had no complaints about my case mate tough case except it was too thick. This case is WAY thinner. Almost adds nothing to the phone. It offers similar protection too. It does not have the silicone layer but it is still more than enough. The new inside and felt should prevent all scratching too. Again my only real complaint is the button cutouts make the buttons pretty deep in the phone and a little akward to use but not that bad. I dont feel any looseness at all and dont see me having that creaking problem the older cases had.

Any questions feel free to ask.

I have two of these cases. One black and the other white. The black case came in the package with the rugged outer case. These cases have a very nice fit and finish. They almost don't feel like a case, but part of the phone there are so thin. They also have a nice soft rubber texture feel, which helps to give you a good grip on the phone.

It has been 10 days and the lock part still seems fine. It does fit tightly together. I see how it may be possible for the locking part to wear out but I rarely remove the case or pull on it like that. Hopefully it doesn't wear out. If so maybe there is a way to tighten it back up.

Careful with that one, it's been known to scratch the sides of the Evo. I know from personal experience. It will eventually begin to flex, which possibly causes the frequent friction that causes the scuffing.

Maybe Seidio has fixed it (though the version 2 they sent me began flexing and creaking too), but just warning you to keep an eye on it.

I had no idea the case from Best Buy is the same as the Innocase II!!! (Guess I should do better homework!) I got the gunmetal grey case from BB when I bought my Evo bec I got a case, screen protector & car charger package. I intended to get a case from Seidio bec that's what I had on my Hero & I really liked it. I've been contemplating ordering a case from Seidio even though there's nothing wrong with the case from BB. Now that I know they're the same there's no reason for me to do so...unless I just want a different color. (BB color selections suck!)
A couple of things that cross my mind...You mentioned a newer style material. That is prob one reason I never thought of them being the same...the feel of the material is different. When did they change the material?
Also, the case from BB doesn't feel as thick. Is it due to the new material or just my imagination?
Thanks for the post, I'm glad I didn't waste my money buying what I already have.

ive had this case since day 1 of owning the phone(aug '10) and its finally suffered a sling and or arrow lol it cracked in the thin strip where it opens up at the top for access to the power button. no effect in functionality, but now it creaks when i push the power button lol oh well, its hardly audible and i COULD epoxy it, but i dont care enough to do so :p lol anyways, i know this is an ancient thread, but it was revitalized so heres my 2 cents lol

how does the lock area feel ...where the two pieces lock together? I know one of the issues I had with seido one was the locks kept wearing out within about 4 weeks and the pieces would not stay together

Yes this case will F up your EVO. They need to line the whole inside with felt, not just the back part . Other than my phone being scratched the @#$% up it works great
