Just had McDs![]()
Me too. Download link all the way
we know you have to daownload it to the SD card then upload it to the phone. was just saying that with the metro ascend you couldn't even access that area yet so they did do something to the phone. and i just talked to a friend of mine at metro corp store and she said that they are having a meeting on the ascend and forte on the 25th but not sure what its about
I got my Accend just before Christmas, it had 2.1 installed. But within a week or two, I had an update, and now if you look in the settings it says: 2.1-update1
But, if I go to the storefront or whatever, the screen says Android 2.2 at the bottom.
So, I assume that this update was the 2.2 update, I'm just very new to the system and I guess no matter how much I update it will continue to say 2.1-update2,3,4,etc.
I did get this update in Settings, About Phone, Online Update. I occassionally check that and it lets you know if you are up to date.
If there are other ways to check this, etc. I would love to hear about them.
I also did clean up the phone a bit by doing a temp. Root (unrooted after reboot). But do not have it permanently rooted.
On a different topic(sorry, just while I'm here): Why leave it rooted all the time, when I can root, do what I like, then return to standard operation? I guess I need to learn more about it, but if someone understands my point....I'd appreciate the input...
Thanks....
I found this interesting thread at Howard Forums. It goes through the upgrade process. I'm not sure what update this is referring to but maybe someone else can help to decipher it.
It does give one the idea of how the upgrade (from Cricket) will be delivered:
Official Huawei M860 Software Update
it is referring to the Android 2.1.1 update. Thats why your phone reads version 2.1.1 update-1.

I am with Cricket. I just checked my running services and I don't have that. I'm thinking it is preparing your phone for the 2.2 upgrade. If I were you I would put it on the charger but don't turn it off.

Yes that is true
The latest from Cricket: They don't know anything at all about the Ascend getting a 2.2 upgrade. The Zio is scheduled to upgrade to either 2.1 or 2.2 in the next couple of weeks.
That was straight from the horses mouth (Cricket's not mine LOL ) just a few minutes ago!
So....there ya have it folks. We can stop fidgeting now and just enjoy our phones.![]()
I bought my Ascend just a couple of days ago from Metro PCS and it came with 2.2 and now I have seen on the web where there will be a 2.3 soon.
THAAAAAANK YOU!
I read this right after I sent you the "OS" PM.LOL!
you're quite welcome! You mean after you sent me the pm about the ppds?
(powdered pancake donut surprise) hahaha
ps....that's kolio's pet name for the 2.2
i want my pancake!!!! And i want it now!!! :d
