4g installation

Does anyone know what the 4g transmitters look like? I am in one of those areas of NE Ohio that is surrounded by 4g but is still about a mile or two away.

The tower that my phone connects to is about a mile away. Today there was a lot of activity at the tower with personnel working on the tower. They were about half way up the tower working all day. There were others doing work at the base of the tower.

I don't know if they were installing 4g on the tower or not, but am asking if anyone knows what I should look for the next few days so that I can tell if they are in fact installing 4g to that tower. Like I said before, 4g is all around me except for my immediate area.

If it is 4g, how long does the installation usually take before the tower is broadcasting? Thanks in advance..

** Just drove by again and they are still working at almost 6pm.. They first got there about 8:30am

Google Wimax installation to see pics. They usually are installed on tower much higher than normal cells due to increased radiation and code requirements. I've seen installations and the guys doing it were in radiation jumpsuits.

LOL that is the best one yet. Wimax is lower then normal radiation level. The higher frequency allows wimax to operate at a lower energy level. But reduces the amount of penetration through objects. But the given radiation is reduce by distance. Which is why the number of towers for wimax is increased, the total wattage power is still need, but is broken into may smaller towers.

RiverOfIce, How long does the installation usually take? I will pass the tower in a little bit on the way to the dentist to check out what is going on.. It seems like it could be 4g being that I am in a little pocket of no coverage. Thanks.

It varies, it is a 2- 3 part process.. It can be done in 3-5 days on average.

One more question that I was wondering. Is it possible to be getting cell service from one tower, and 4g from another at the same time? Just curious.

With the htc phones, it is possible to get cell service from one tower and 4g from up to 3 different towers.
