To help keeping the existing threads clean from offtopic discussions, I decided to start this thread. Please use it to talk about carriers and your previous phones.

For me, the carrier issue is quite easy, as in Germany, we still have nothing but SIM cards and you can virtually get any phone on any network.

I've used EPLUS before, but since their network coverage is below average, I've decided to go with o2 for my next contract.

In the US here. I'm on Verizon for a few reasons. I use public transportation alot and Verizon has or had the best service in the tunnels.

Their customer service towards me has kept me with them for the past 3 years. I have been with them 6 years total.

Verizon is known to have better coverage than most. But....I just moved near my job and Verizon isnt too good here. So for that reason I will be shopping for a new carrier. So far its between Sprint and AT&T based on co workers and their reception experiences. But if they dont work in the tunnels at all or as good as Verizon....it will be tough to decide.

Previous phones? Motorola E815, Samsung u740, Samsung Omnia 1, Droid 1...in that order. I will say from my experience with those 4 phones, Motorola has better reception than Samsung. All 4 of those phones were on Verizon. I had some other Samsung's and probably a Nokia that I cant remember right now.

I live in Southern California and all four major U.S carriers are working great over here. I have been loyal Verizon customer for last five years. But like you, I'm considering switch to other carriers, especially AT&T, T-mobile since they seem to get new great phones like this one way ahead of Verizon.

20€/month for 120 minutes, SMS-Flat and Data Flat (GPRS Speed after 300 MB) seems a very nice deal to me. Nonetheless, I'm considering upping the data-cap to 1 GB fpr 5€/month

I've had a touchscreen phone before, namely a Nokia 5800 XM, which, lately, annoys the hell out of me with its sluggish performance and inconsistent battery usage. I hope my future Optimus 2x will be better in that regard.

Cheers

Hello,
Are you going to pre order one? I'm not sure if I like the sound of the the brown version? I haven't seen any pictures yet have you?

Since you cannot preorder the phone on contract here yet. I will have to wait until some resellers take it into stock. There is a healthy community here in germany, where you can request certain contracts with certain phones and have resellers contact you, but not before the actual release.

I haven't seen any pictures of the brown version either, but I'll stick to the black version anyway. I guess it will just be a matter of which back cover you use, since the front is dominated by the screen, while the back seems to be completely encased by the back cover, except for the metal band.

Edit: I'm not sure but some of the devices that have been around on youtube seem like they have some brownish back, not sure tho.

I am spending this evening downgrading my iPhone 3G from 4.2.1 to 3.1.3. Then jail breaking it.;)
I'm donating it to my wife when the 2X is released.:)
iOs 4 is just too much for the 3G`s hardware. It feels nice and quick now 3.13's back, its still a decent phone. I was surprised to see that they sell for about

Picking up on an interesting point in another thread.... I'm not sure I would change my mind if another dual core lump was released a couple of weeks before the 2X.

IMO making the right decision on a phone can be complicated and lengthy, typically a decision I'm stuck with for a couple of years.
Well that said, not just because it was first to market, if it was half the price, twice as fast or the 2X gave you galloping ear rot. I might.:)
Or am I missing the real point: Most Android phones of similar specs are really very similar full stop,so get your gratification ASAP?

I was all Desire/Desire HD before the 2x was announced. I basically just want to get the best phone for my budget, thats what I always did every 2 years. The 2x seems to fit in my schedule just perfectly. The Atrix 4G for example looks darn sexy, too. But with the probability of a locked bootloader on that one, and no release date for germany in sight, I'll stick with the 2x.

LG phones also seem to have a very vivid developer community and the 2.3 update is sort of guaranteed, so there is still a lot to discover before this phone is outdated.

Perfect choice I'd say :)

Yep, I here you. The Atrix is a powerhouse and i'd love to be run citrix but I bet its going to be expensive and you have to draw the line somewhere.
When is your contract up?
