Do you still want the TB as bad as you did?

We've all been going through the back and forth, this date and that, this feature and that, hope to hopeless, etc. Do you still want the TB as bad as you originally did? Would you still be first in line at BB or VZW if it launched 30 seconds from now?

Yesterday, I was. Today, I'm more over it. Seeing the price changing that's happening before it's even released, pair that with "possible" problems, and just plain principle, I don't think I'd go running out the door. I'm not over the phone itself. I would definitely like to have it, don't get me wrong. But I don't think I'm going to go knocking over old people to get it -- especially with a $300, two-year-contract deal. I think I'll take a little more time before jumping the gun.

My only concern in waiting is the whole 4G pricing deal. I'd definitely want to be grandfathered into that. I wonder how long we'll have before they start changing the price structure? Right now, I have the unlimited plan for all lines on my account at the $29.99, but I get a $20 credit per line. (Yes, persistence pays off!) So if I were to get grandfathered, I'd be paying $9.99 per line for 4G service. If I wait, I could end up paying close to the $30 a month that I was paying.

All indications from VZW employees who work in the LTE area stores and have gone through the training, is that LTE will launch with the same price point as the LTE modems which is 29.99 unlimited. Now that may in fact go up once the network grows, but knowning VZW you will more then likely be grandfathered in at the 29.99 price.

I want it just as bad, but the price increase hurts. I am also weary of the data plan costs (nobody knows yet).

Lets say you buy the phone with unlimited data plan - can they just raise the price in the middle of the contract? If so, whats the point of a contract where one party is beholden to another party for any charges, without the right to cancel for free. They could charge $99 for data and up the cancellation fee to $500 in that case. Doesn't this violate the consideration principal of contract law?

Do not be shocked if you do not get grandfathered in to 4G. The last couple people from VZW CS I spoke with were pretty certain that if they make it a different plan to include 4G, then the existing unlimited plan would NOT be grandfathered. Of course they said nothing at all has been set in stone yet, and a lot is still up in the air.

The way this release has gone, I would not put it past VZW to screw existing customers.

I just spoke to someone from VZW and was told something interesting...

Wireless Hotspot is free..........Until may or June but a complete non-committal on Data Plan prices. :( This seems to confirm some of what was posted a few weeks ago.

She also indicated that every TB box had to be opened and a software update applied and that is what the delays were and they are close to done.

That's why I'm worried about NOT getting a 4G plan now. :(

I do, because ...

1. I don't have a phone right now
2. I want something with the new Sense on it
3. It's going to be the only phone (until the Rev.) that has the QSD8650 processor and an LTE radio. Remember Inspire is using QSD8255 and HPSA+ so it won't be quite as snappy. The Atrix and it's Tegra2 has me worried. There were so many products that were supposed to come out *last year* with the Tegra2 that never happened because nVidia apparently cocked it up something fierce. It still seems like a cursed chipset, so I'd be wary. Since I don't trust LG phones anymore (had them, they suck), this phone looks to be the fasted thing on the market till at least this summer.
4. Unlocked bootloaders make me happy. Rooting is your friend.

I still want the phone but definitely nowhere near as bad as I originally did. I am starting to get over this hush hush, iPhone, delaying, and no announcement stuff. There will be a point in March where if this phone has not released yet I will not get it and will wait for something else.

I got my G1 the day it came out. Now I send 2 text msgs and the battery is half gone, not even kidding. I'm about to join my gf's VZW account and we will probably do a family plan. Right now, the TB is the only phone on VZW I am interested in. I am not a fan of Motoblur and I can't deal with an onscreen keyboard unless the phone is a bit larger than the inc.

I am really looking forward to this phone. Although I am looking forward to it less and less as days go by and there isn't an official announcement. I am also pretty turned off by the possible price increase to $300.

Yeah it's disappointing how all of this is being handled. The worst part is that the general public has no idea this is happening. The hundreds of thousands of people that will blindly walk into a Verizon store days after it comes out will be convinced to buy the TB by the salesperson and they will never even realize the chaos that the phone they now have and think is "neat" created for weeks prior to its release.

I agree with pretty much everything that's been said on here, my excitement has been killed by frustration.

$299 for an essentially unproven phone on a new network just seems to be too much to me. The TB is going to have a tough time living up to the hype.

Is VZW the only place to get a 1 year contract? Because I'm considering getting an HTC Incredible for the time being while VZW figures it out. When are you eligible for an upgrade on 1 year contract?

Yea, I'm being turned off by it. Instead of the wait making me want it more, I've actually become more interested in other phones coming out on Verizon, or other carriers. And my Droid Eris is still kicking

Right now, I don't see this phone coming out until the end of March... the push to get it out obviously isn't there. The longer the wait, the more behind in the "race" the phone goes. I wouldn't be surprised if Skype releases an update to its app with Video calling before the Thunderbolt is released.

Don't get me wrong, I'll probably still get the phone, but not right away. I hope to wait for a BOGO

Same here. If I have to wait until nearly Q2, I may as well just wait for whatever's the next better deal.

I'm still stoked for the launch.

My G1 contract for T-Mo was up this month, so last Friday I started a VZW contract with a Dinc to tide me over until I can exchange it for the TBolt. As nice as the Dinc is (especially compared to my G1, haha), it's able to keep me happily waiting, but it hasn't lessened my excitement about getting the TBolt, because the LTE speeds are ridiculous, and I'm in an LTE city. =)

The price on this phone is goint to drop fast once more 4G phones come out especially the dual core phones. If you can wait a few months, you will get a much better deal.

This is true of nearly everything. This is also the reason why I still have my G1. I've been waiting for something better to come along, at an attractive price point for awhile now. Clearly too long.

Since I need to switch my service to VZW asap, I am running out of time to wait.
