Help Universal Inbox (and notifications)

I find the 'universal inbox' to be somewhat frustrating.

I turned all notifications off except for texts, but I still get a 'ding' when I receive an email (and it's not even the same notification I have set for my texts). Not sure why.

Also, I seem to be getting double emails as a result of the universal inbox. One comes to 'email' and the same one comes to 'universal inbox'. So basically I have to read one and then open the other otherwise it shows on my top bar as an unread message.

Any way to adjust this? Or is it recommended to just get rid of the 'universal inbox'? (is that even possible?)

definitely no notifications set.

Ok, but what is the Ringtone set for?

If I go to my universal inbox and go to 'edit universal inbox' and uncheck 'Gmail', does that mean I will stop getting emails altogether, or is that a solution for not getting double emails?

Not sure...I have the GMail app managing GMail messages. It is not listed as an account managed by the Universal Inbox (i.e. it is not listed for me to have a check box as with the other accounts. For which accounts are you receiving duplicates?

The "Ringtone" is set individually for "Email" messages, as well as "Texts".

Setting a check for "Notifications" is just the visual alert in the "Notification Bar" at the top of the phone. Audible alerts (Ringtone setting) is separately configured.

Silent.

And the 'Notifications' is unchecked. Which according to you, should mean that I get no visual alert in the top bar. But I am. And it definitely 'dings' when an email comes though.

For which accounts are you receiving duplicates?

My gmail/email. Which is definately an account managed by my universal inbox. The three accounts for my universal inbox are text messages, facebook messages, and gmail/email.

Not sure how you got GMail to be part of the Universal inbox, but GMail should have not been setup under "email", but rather the "GMail" app.

Are Notifications turned off for each individual email account (there is a global and individual setting)?
