Does anyone else use WaveSecure?

Nevermind! I got it :D

I couldn't download it while I was working over WiFi. I turned off WiFi, and it downloaded beautifully!

I read that this happened to someone who was attempting to install the "My Verizon" app. He turned off WiFi, and voila!

Moral of the story, if you're on WiFi and can't install an app, turn it off!

--------------
eta... HOLY CRAP! I was testing the lock with "alarm"! That's enough of a scream to make anyone drop it and run! I'm surprised I didn't wake my whole house up!

NOTE: Those that use this application on a CDMA network (Sprint and Verizon specificially) will be charged for every SMS that is received from their system to your phone. Those SMS are coming from overseas and do not deduct from your unlimited texting bundle. Also, all those buddies you added during registration will receive those same text messages and add to their bills. Granted it is only $.20, but they add up (I did a few things already this morning that had incoming SMS's)

Verizon Wireless: Verizon | Answers to FAQs - Verizon Wireless Support numbers 3 and 5
Sprint and Nextel: International Text Messaging ? From Sprint

I just installed it this morning and discovered that the incoming "triggers" are from 011658xxxxxxx (Singapore). I'm wondering how this would work if we used our Google Voice numbers instead of our regular numbers (or if that would even be verified by them). If that worked we wouldn't be charged for those.

The map locaion does not work for me in the UK, It locks the phone OK, but a call to my provider would block the IMEI anyway, unless I can see where the phone is makes it just a back up app..

Just noticed this on my bill. Not digging the charges, so I'm pulling the software. Too bad, cause it's a really cool app.

I got this app the other day and was quite p*ssed off to discover it charges for international texts without even a warning. Is it really true that the "buddies" I added were also charged international rates for the texts they got? I thought it was sent from my phone because when I looked at the message on someone's phone it said it was from me.

Anyway, still debating whether to keep this app now, it's great and I guess now it's already set up I won't get charged more for texts unless I use it when it's stolen or lost, in which case I probably won't care..

Hi James,
We have to apologize for the distress. We've since made tweaks to WaveSecure so US users won't get charged for international text messages (SMS).

Your buddies are notified by text messages sent from your phone. Hence, if you add a buddy with an international number, there will be charges according to your service plan. :)

Note that WaveSecure sends an SMS upon reboot automatically only if you insert a new (unknown) SIM card in your phone. That will identify the phone number of the new SIM card inserted in the event of theft.

Thanks,
cheewee

I'm from the UK so that statement about US customers doesn't really affect me, but thanks for the reply and clearing up the other questions for me, will definitely be keeping it, great app :)

Ah, that's good to know :)

Yes i works fine, superb app. Lock and alarm sent the dogs mad, warning would have been good ;) (only joking, it would make all but the most determind thief lose the phone fast).

Also I could not get a view of the map on the location finder on the browser or when I click big map so it went to a different window. That was using IE on Win 7 64 bit but I copied the url and used Firefox and it opened fine.

On the backup I only get 3 tick boxes

Contacts
SMS
Call logs

Media is not there, any ideas?

cheers

Ah found out how, go on to the app on the phone and select upload media just under backup. It searches for all media on the hero, on mine it found all of the jpeg images and the hero sampler video. Tap one of those an it sends it to the server, I have sent 3 items.

You can find it under My Data > Media, best not send the hero sampler video as it is very large. Works great.

Hmm, I dont feel comfortable allowing a company I have never heard of publish my personal data to their servers for the purpose of backing up my data. contacts, SMS, call logs, photos and video as it doesnt explicitly state that the data would not be used for anything but recovery and not passed on to any 3rd party(s) and I mean contact numbers for example. At least none I can see in the License Agreement.
So, if this is a free app where is the revenue coming from to keep the servers running and also update/programme the app for example?

This is true... they better not redistribute our data regardless for any reason.
