Is the desire HD still the best HD phone out there?

Excluding the battery life, is it still the most powerful htc phone, including the new S range coming out?

Yes, the DHD is still the most powerfull and best phone in the market. It ain't the perfect phone, but overall it is the best (excluding battery life, however with my usage I can easily pull 2 days of good usage from it).

The new S- line was just a "refreshing" of old phones that still sell well, but needed a hardware upgrade. Also, they will be getting new software, which the DHD also will upgrade to. The only major difference is a front facing camera on the "Incredible", but in my opinion video calling is still overrated, as the telecompanies overcharge for the feature still. Other new things on the "Incredible" include different design, to cover and buttons. Possibly a better loud speaker (as the current one on the DHD is a bit small and piffy, but honestly I don't think the DHD was designed as a phone to show off multimedia through its speakers. The sound circuit for the headphones is amazing though, and I don't think I have ever gotten a better sound from my headphones while plugged into a phone. I also use a headset called j-Jays, it's a Swedish sound company that has been kicking some major ass with their products in reviews, among them heavy weighters like Bose and Senheiser, and they are cheap compared to those brands ^^ I highly recommend them :D).

EDIT: A link to the website with my headphones :) LINK

I was a bit annoyed when they announced the new range of phones, but after doing some research I found, as Gardium said, they are just bringing the old phones in line with the HD (1ghz processor, 8mp camera, 1.5gb internal memory, high res screen).

HD still has more memory than the Desire S
HD has a bigger screen than the Incredible S
HD is for adults unlike the Wildfire S
HD has a better camera than the Nexus S

The only phone that would be better is the HD2, but thats only a rumour so a minimum of 12 months away, if it exists at all

i have owned many phones over the years starting with the siemens c25, i can even include the iphone among my handsets, but i love HTC, the build quality is second to none, i have friends with galaxy s and sony ericcsons etc that love my HTC's for the feel of solidity, the samsung creaks as you hold it(plastic) the S.E. is the same, my DHD feels solid, and lets you know you have a phone in your hand, Sure the new batch of HTC phones have front facing camera's, but so did many phones a few years ago when video calling came out, how quickly was that fad dropped ?.dual core cpu?. until the software catches up with the hardware, there is no advantage, i still use my G1, hardware wise it can still hold its own against many new mid range phones, a few friends have the iphone 4, some agree the desire hd is better but they still want the "kudos" of the apple, i argue that android has been ported to the iphone, but i have never seen iOS on an android device,.
Will i get excited about the Desire HD2 ? no, when Htc bring out a dual core 2ghz , 600x1024 4" samoled screen with 32g internal in a unibody case, then yeah,
but till then i will settle for the best large screen phone on the market, either side of the pond.

I could not agree more. I remember my first phone, the Siemens C10, god that was times xD. 1 week battery life, huge as a tetrapack drink xD LMAO.

I haven't had many smart phones in my life yet though, but I have many tech friends, and I'm a hardcore tech geek guy myself. So I have tried, used and experienced many many phones over the years, and nothing comes even close to the quality and devotion that HTC have to their phones. Yes, HTC ain't best in everything, they are still behind in some places, like "link" solutions (although they got up that DNLA media link, and they have gotten much better PC sync software, but they are still behind in car link solutions, as shown in another thread with the "Automatic connection" that Nokias can have :)).

But overall, I'd rather have HTC than anything else, as they are good phones, and HTC knows what they are doing. They have been in this business for over 10 years, although not known as HTC, but around 2000 they were making system components to that times smart phones. I recall one of my fathers first smart phones... The I-Mate xD. It looked like a small mini laptop, and had no by near any of the features a laptop should have... but it was still a smartphone :D. Those were times

I was a diehard NOKIA fan, I still hold respect for NOKIA.

HTC and android together is a new level, I am so impressed with the features, downside is the battery but with all this features I really am ok with a one day battery stand.

I haven’t sacrificed or shut off any programs to increase battery life, because I simply see no point in doing so.

I am sure you are going to have the best weekend of your life buddy, I did when I got my DHD.. lolz.

Thank you! For the “Thanks” you’re going to give me, if I have helped in any way.
